Enter the 2016 NILE Horse Futurities Today!
Billings, MT-- Enter the 2016 NILE Horse Futurity today! If you bought a horse from the NILE Gold Buckle Select Horse Sale in 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012 and/or 2011, that horse is eligible for the 2016 NILE Gold Buckle Select Horse Futurities. 

The NILE Gold Buckle Select Futurities will be Thursday, October 20 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the RimRock Auto Arena. Renowned horseman, Sam Rose from Pilot Point, Texas will judge the futurities this year. 

Horses are also eligible if sired by a nominated stallion. This year's nominated stallions are:
Smoken Darling owned by Katie Breckenridge of Picabo, ID
The Masqued Male owned by Mel & Brenda Flottmeyer of Piedmont, SD
DMAC Fireplug owned by Fink Quarter Horses of Hysham, MT
Crown Royal Blues owned by Katie Breckenridge of Thermopolis, WY
Peppys Smooth Cat owned by Allen Munger of Brockway, MT
Playin Four Sixes owned by Allen Munger of Brockway, MT
LW Playguns Diamond owned by LaVonne Westland of Brockway, MT
Rey Jay Boon owned by LaVonne Westland, of Brockway, MT

There's also still time to nominate a stallion. Nominated stallions receive 25% of their foals' winnings (only in 3, 4, and 5 year old futurities), listing on the NILE website, and a quarter page ad in the NILE Premier Magazine, which includes the Horse Sale Catalog. 

There is also a barrel futurity held Tuesday, October 18 at 4 p.m. before the Running the Rims Barrel Race. If exhibitors wish to enter both they will run once during the futurity and their time will carry over for the Running the Rims barrel race. 

If you sell horses at the NILE each year, be sure to encourage your buyers to enter the futurities. It could me a paycheck for YOU! Breeders receive 25% of the winnings.
Entry Fee Schedule:
Paid before 2015 sale by consignor       $100
Paid at 2015 sale by buyer                    $100
Paid before April 1, 2016                     $130
Paid April 2 to September 1, 2016       $150
Paid September 2 to October 1, 2016   $250
YEARLING FUTURITY:
Open to any 2015 foal sold through the NILE Gold Buckle Sale October 16, 2015.
Horses will be shown at halter as a group, then shown individually free of leadline in a round pen for 90 seconds. Horses will be judged on movement, training/manners, and conformation. Lame or unsound horses will be severely penalized.

SNAFFLE BIT TWO-YEAR-OLD FUTURITY: 

Open to any horse born in 2014 that has been sold through the NILE Gold Buckle Select Horse Sale. 
Horses will be shown in a snaffle bit and ridden two-handed. Legal snaffle bit and head gear will be as outlined in the AQHA rule book. Lame or unsound horses will be severely penalized. The futurity will be shown in three separate classes: Halter, Western Pleasure and Reining pattern. Horses will be shown in western stock saddle. Riders will show in western attire.

THREE-YEAR-OLD FUTURITY:

Open to any Weanling sold in the 2013 NILE Horse Sale, Yearlings sold in the 2014 NILE Horse Sale, or any Two-Year-Old sold in the 2015 NILE Horse Sale plus any Three-Year-Old that is sired by a sponsoring stallion that has been nominated. See Stallion Nomination Form for qualifications to nominate a stallion.
Horses will be shown in a snaffle bit and ridden two-handed. Legal snaffle bit and head gear will be as outlined in the AQHA rule book. Lame or unsound horses will be severely penalized. The futurity will be shown in two seperate parts: Horses will show first in a reining pattern (Pattern to be selected by NILE). Horses will then show working cattle. They will work individually boxing a cow at the end of the arena. The contestant shall then take the cow to an open part of the arena and circle it at least once in each direction. Horses will be shown in western stock saddle. Riders will show in western attire.

FOUR-YEAR-OLD FUTURITY: Open to any Weanling sold in the 2012 NILE Horse Sale, Yearlings sold in the 2013 NILE Horse Sale, any Two-Year-Old sold in the 2014 NILE Horse Sale, or any Three-Year-Old sold in the 2015 sale, plus any Four-Year-Old that is sired by a sponsoring stallion that has been nominated. See Stallion Nomination Form for qualifications to nominate a stallion. A Four-Year-Old horse consigned to the 2015 sale is also eligible. Horses will be shown in a snaffle bit and ridden two-handed or bit of choice and ridden one-handed. Legal snaffle bit and head gear will be as outlined in the AQHA rule book. Lame or unsound horses will be severely penalized. Horses will be shown in western stock saddle. Riders will show in western attire. Horses in the in the Four-Year-Old futurity will show in two separate parts: Horses will show first in a reining pattern followed by working cattle, which includes roping. The reining pattern will be selected by NILE. Horses will work individually boxing a cow at the end of the arena, then taking the animal down the fence and making at least one turn each way on the fence. Next, the contestant shall rope and stop the animal, then return it to the catch pen. Two loop limit.

FIVE-YEAR-OLD FUTURITY: Open to any Weanling sold in the 2011 NILE Horse Sale, Yearlings sold in the 2012 NILE Horse Sale, any Two-Year-Old sold in the 2013 NILE Horse Sale, any Three-Year-Old sold in the 2014 sale, any Four-Year-Old sold in the 2015 sale, plus any Five-Year-Old that is sired by a sponsoring stallion that has been nominated. See Stallion Nomination Form for qualifications to nominate a stallion. A Five-Year-Old horse consigned to the 2016 sale is also eligible.

NILE BARREL FUTURITY:
Tuesday, October 18th 4 p.m. Open to any 3, 4, or 5 year old horse that was sold in through the NILE sales. Or is sired by a 2016 nominated stallion.
Ran in conjunction with Running the Rims Barrel Race If entered in both, run once. Run in the futurity section, time carries over to Running the Rims time. 2D Format.
Exhibition Runs 12 noon. Futurity Barrel Race starts at 4 p.m.
