Billings, MT--It's that time of the year again--Ranch Rodeo time! Kicking off the NILE sanctioned series is the Neal Hermanson Memorial Ranch Rodeo in Sidney, Montana June 11.
The cow punchers of the eastern Montana plains put their skills to the test at the Richland County Fairgrounds starting at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $5 at the gate. In addition to the ranch rodeo is a ranch horse competition.
Ten teams will battle it out for the first place spot, earning them a slot in the NILE Ranch Rodeo Finals in the big arena at MetraPark in October.
This memorial rodeo is named after Neal Hermanson who passed away in 2008 at the age of 23. He was a ranch kid that had a special calling for horses and cattle. During the rodeo Neal's horse is led around the arena with empty saddle--a reminder that each day is special.
From this, the Empty Saddle Memorial Foundation developed which honors and memorializes lost loved ones whose lives were shaped by the bond between horse and rider. Funds are given out as medical aid and scholarships to deserving recipients.
NILE Ranch Rodeo Finals are Saturday, October 15 at 7 p.m. The winning team from Neal Hermanson Ranch Rodeo will compete at the NILE.
The NILE is proud to have the Neal Hermanson Memorial Ranch Rodeo as one of sanctioning partners because they share the vision of preserving and embracing the Western tradition.
