4th graders learn about agriculture during the NILE
Billings, Mont.--Did you know there is over 60 nonprofits in Yellowstone County alone? The Billings Community Foundation, a nonprofit organization itself, wants to create a culture of giving in this area by heading up the event, Give Local.

Give Local America is a nation wide event May 3, designed for hometown causes, bringing awareness and putting donor dollars toward making change in their community. It's been described as a modern day 24-hour telethon. Instead of calling in to donate, people can logon to donate.

From 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. May 3 on the Give Local Yellowstone Valley Region website anyone with an internet connection can donate to their favorite charities in the Billings area. Three businesses downtown are hosting live events that day. Share camaraderie and inspire others to get involved with giving back.

It only makes sense to start event how most people start their day, with coffee! Rock Creek Roasters kicks it off with caffeine at midnight. Fun activities and special deals in the wee hours of the morning will hopefully rake in the money for the participating charities.

At 1 p.m. things shift to Thirsty Street Brewing company for and afternoon of drinking and donating. The organizers of Give Local Yellowstone encourage participants to share their experience on social media using #yellgivelocal  By making it interactive, and fun the goal is make giving to local charities a habit for the younger generation. Listen for live radio broadcasts and look for media coverage all day.

For the final leg Hooligans hosts from 8 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. Every hour for the 24 hours, someone lucky will win a prize. The 'once around the clock' prizes are from the generous sponsors. Dress up, dance and donate to DJ Land Party that night. Live coverage of how much has been donated to each nonprofit will be on the Give Local Yellowstone website to spark friendly competition.

Be a part of something that improves the community. Give Local May 3rd Yellowstone Valley Region!

Billings, Mont--The NILE Foundation is participating in the Give Local Yellowstone Valley Region May 3rd. The 24-hour designated day of donating helps the many non profits in the region raise awareness and funds.

Please consider a donation to the NILE Foundation, even if it's just $10 it can make a big impact.

The NILE Foundation supports many of the NILE Youth Programs:
4th Grader Ag Education:  Over 2,000 area 4th graders come to the NILE Stock Show to learn about where their food comes from and how agriculture is a part of their daily lives.  We wish to expand this program into a week long exhibit for all attendees.
NILE Merit Heifer Program:  A "Live Animal" Scholarship that awards a heifer to approximately 25 FFA or 4-H members annually.  The heifers are donated from ranches across the region.  The purpose is to help young producers get a start in the beef industry and understand what it takes to be in production agriculture.
College Scholarships:  The NILE will award $25,000 in scholarships to high school seniors and college students in 2016. Scholarship money is awarded to students with a background in agriculture pursuing an education in college or vocational training. We would like to increase the dollar amount and number of scholarships given each year.
Jr. Fed Livestock Show and Sale of Champions:  Youth from across the region come to the NILE Stock Show to exhibit their market steer, lamb, goat, or hog.  Help these hard working kids grow their college fund.
Youth Contests:  Nearly 500 FFA & 4-H members from across the region converge in Billings during the NILE Stock Show & Rodeo to compete in various competitive events. We would like to increase participation and support the students learning life skills.
The future of agriculture is in YOUR hands and you are invaluable to us as you help us fulfill our mission to support our youth programs of the NILE.
Thank you for your support in helping us reach our goals in supporting the youth programs of the NILE. We could not do it without you! As a member based organization, NILE is driven by many great agricultural enthusiasts. If you have an interest in knowing more about NILE memberships and the incentives included, please contact us.
