Billings, MT--Still clutching on to the last bit of summer is just like a cowboy clutching on to the night latch of a bucking horse. The Phillips County Saddle Club Ranch Rodeo Sunday, Sept. 6 at 2 p.m. is the perfect opportunity to get a grip on the fleeting summer season.

Before the broncs buck out of the chute, a calcutta starts off the day's activities at Tafton Park in Malta, Mont. at 1:30 p.m.

Teams compete for the bragging rights and a chance to head to Billings, Mont. for the NILE Ranch Rodeo Finals in the fall. A payout of $3,500 and awards for top hand and top horse are also up for grabs. Contestants with fastest time in these events win: ranch bronc riding, wild cow milking, team doctoring, team branding, and team trailering.

The winning team from this rodeo will be qualified to compete in the NILE Ranch Rodeo Finals Oct. 14 during Rancher's Day at the NILE. This is a big incentive for many of the competitors because the venue is large, indoor, and has instant replay on big screens. More enticingly, the winner from the NILE Ranch Rodeo is eligible to compete at the Working Ranch Cowboys Association World Championship Ranch Rodeo in Amarillo, Texas.

The NILE is proud to have the Philips County Saddle Club Ranch Rodeo as one of sanctioning partners because they too work to preserve and embrace the western lifestyle.
