2014 NILE Gold Buckle Performance Horse Sale Results  

October 18, 2014         Billings, Montana

Geldings 2-and-3-year-olds averaged $4,241.66

Geldings 4-year-olds & older averaged $5,128.57

2-&-3-year-old Fillies averaged $4,216.66

A wide selection of solid ranch horses, finished rope horses, barrel horses, and kids' horses were offered at the 2014 NILE Gold Buckle Select Performance Horse Sale.


 
Two horses topped the sale at $10,500; lots #450 and 460. The first was consigned by Scott Hulme of Arimo, ID.  This 11-year-old brown mare can do it all- from ranch work to rodeo and team roping to barrels.  With a pedigree going back to Dry Doc, Docs Cowboy and Doc Bar, this go-to horse is suitable for the whole family, including kids.  Paul and Kate Montgomery of Huntley, MT purchased lot #450.

The second horse, lot 460, was a five-year-old sorrel gelding consigned by Keith Marquart of Miles City, MT.  A solid all-around gelding out of Shiners Lena Doc, going back to Shining Spark and Genuine Doc, this horse has extensive ranch experience as well as ranch rodeo. A money earner in ranch sorting competitions, this gelding was purchased by Dawn Calderwood of Bakersfield, CA.

The second high selling price was $10,000 on two horses, lots 434 and 485. 

A five-year-old granddaughter of Highbrow Cat, lot 434 was consigned by TLC Ranch of Kalispell, MT.  A versatile, eye-catching bay mare is willing and able to do anything from working cattle to ranch horse versatility and cutting to penning or even reining.  This well trained mare was purchased by Scott Bowen of Huntley, MT.

 Lot 485 consigned by Robert Bruce of Draper, UT was exhibited by Dan Meyers. This pretty buckskin mare is a finished four-year-old head horse.  Royally bred of Who Whizit and Les Glos Girl, going back to Topsail Cody and Colonel Freckles, this well rounded rope horse was purchased by Robinson Livestock, Justen & Lori Robinson of Moorcroft, WY.

Lot 444 was a sharp looking five-year-old sorrel gelding consigned by Justin 'Spike' Buffington of Hathaway, MT.  A gentle and athletic horse that has done extensive ranch work and has been started heeling, this horse brought $9,250 and was purchased by Robinson Livestock, Justen & Lori Robinson of Moorcroft, WY.

A talented sorrel mare, JRT Nightmare In Cash, specializing in barrels and suitable for kids was consigned by Brenda Sims of Riverton,WY.  In addition to talent and ability in barrels, this quiet, athletic mare has competed in youth rodeos, been breakawayed on and has even been to jackpots and gymkanas.  Bringing $8,500, lot 429 went to Gayle Mahnke of Casper, WY.

"Hank," a 2002 gray gelding was exhibited by Tim and Allison McGrady and consigned by David Lewis of Belgrade, MT.  This handsome gelding was started by JR Winters and has been used as a pickup horse across the western states and Canada.  A long-time go-to horse, he sold for $8,500 to Pat Vandell of Laurel, MT.

This year's top consignor was Robert Bruce of Draper, UT with two geldings that were exhibited by Dan Meyers which averaged $7,400.
