Indreland Ranch provides Angus female for Merit Heifer donation.

BILLINGS, MONT. - The Northern International Livestock Exposition (NILE) is excited to announce that Roger Indreland and Indreland Ranches have given the pick of 3 Angus females for this years Merit Heifer Donation Lot.  The Merit Heifer program is a "live animal" scholarship that strives to help youth get a start in the beef cattle business by awarding heifer calves to participants chosen based on merit, future goals, and ability to care for the animal. Any youth ages 12-16, who is a 4-H or FFA member, may apply.

Merit Heifer

Indreland Angus originated in 1977. Their production philosophy is that cows must consistently excel at converting basic grass resource to beef. Practicing this philosophy has refined the cowherd into trouble free and productive cattle. The Indrelands' do not select for any extremes in performance but demand functionality in our cattle. They practice line breeding and strive to produce as many ½ and ¾ blood calves as possible.   .

This years Merit Heifer donation lot will consist of 3 Angus females and the recipient will select the animal of their choice. All three heifers are registered Black Angus half sisters, all bred to Indreland EXT 8904, which is a sire offered at ORIgen.

   - The heifers have been ultra-sounded and confirmed to bred. All three heifers are carrying heifer calves and are due to calve in late-March to mid-April.

   - All three heifers are similar in their type and kind. They are very moderate framed heifers and are bred to be that way. One of the heifers is a  high volume female and very capacious, while another combines a refined and feminine look with a stretchy frame.
