Open Music Sessions - Friday, August 5

Featuring Kenny Lee Long

On the first Friday of each month, DOM hosts a community event with local performance groups, musical acts and nonprofit partners. These events are broadcast live on Comcast Channel 57 in Denver as well as streamed on DOM's website. Events are cablecast and streamed live in Denver Open Media's Studio A.

Join DOM for this month's Open Music Sessions and Access La Alma Lot Party on Friday, August 5, featuring a live musical performance by Kenny Lee Young.

The Access La Alma Lot party will kick off at 6 pm, with live performances by Me Me Monster and The Corner Girls.

The Open Music Sessions will begin inside Studio A at 8 pm, with music by jazz and blues performer Kenny Lee Young and comedian Miriam Moreno.

There will be a free VIP/Ticketed reception upstairs at 7 pm for $20, featuring food by Illegal Pete's and Sexy Pizza. This reception is free for members of Denver Open Media.

The OMF Video Production team recently completed a video for Peak Academy at the City and County of Denver. Peak Academy trains employees in innovations to improve government processes.

The video examined the workflow at a City greenhouse and how Peak Academy training helped the employees to improve efficiency.

Meet Super Sophomore Cassandra Paredes

Because of her superb grades at JFK High School, Cassandra was offered the opportunity to participate in the Super Sophomore internship program through the City and County of Denver.

Cassandra was interested in interning with OMF to explore work within a nonprofit organization and gain career-ready skills.

"I've spent two weeks learning and gaining special skills in this awesome place," says Cassandra. "Not only is this place a TV station, but OMF also allows people the opportunity to take classes and, most importantly, places media in people's hands."

When not in school or interning at OMF, Cassandra enjoys drawing or painting.

Meet New OMF Staffers

Join us in welcoming new staff members Skye Hughes, Alex Steele and Jessica George.

Skye Hughes is a Colorado native, dancer, choreographer and filmmaker who will serve in the new position of Outreach & Marketing Coordinator.

Executive/Adminstrative Assistant Alex Steele relocated to Denver after working on the campaign to elect Rhode Island's first-ever female governor. He has a strong background in community organizing and comes with a passion for cultural immersion.

Finally, Jessica George will work on Contract Compliance and Major Grants. Jessica has a technical writing background and has served with many nonprofits and social-impact companies.

ENDOTREND is one of Tindakan's programs and Revenue Generating Mechanisms designed to raise awareness, promote solutions based concepts and ideas that can be attainably incorporated into people's lives to lessen the impact on people and planet...again all based on humane education tenants.
