DOM Equipment News
Denver Open Media and Open Media Generation (OMF's youth group) staffed a booth at this year's Denver Comic Con. At the booth, DCC participants could use DOM equipment to interview each other about their convention experiences.

Remember, you can also take advantage of the gear we used at Comic Con, including the Livestream Studio box, a portable studio switcher solution for on-location, multi-camera shoots.

Check out this and other equipment at denveropenmedia.org/equipment.
DOM Closed on July 2
Denver Open Media will be closed on Saturday, July 2 in observance of the July 4th weekend.

Executive Director's Letter
On June 3, 2016, the Open Media Foundation launched our latest tool designed to put the power of the media in the hands of the community - Denver Open Media 104.7FM. Denver's first FM radio station devoted entirely to local content, the station will exclusively feature local music, podcasts, news and more.

The new station was the result of the FCC's groundbreaking move to make Low-Power FM stations available in urban markets for the first time. OMF was encouraged to bid for a station by the Prometheus Radio Project and by our Board President, Denis Moynihan, who was preparing to launch a full-power FM station in Grand County.

Initially, our management team was resistant to the idea. The stations come with no funding, and OMF always wants to avoid over-extending ourselves to the extent where our core services suffer. Prometheus insisted that we were the best-suited nonprofit in the area to fulfill the vision of LPFM, and we moved forward with the proposal, devising a plan that would tightly integrate the new radio station with our existing programs so as to avoid mission-creep or dilute our brand.

As the proposal moved-on to the final stages, OMF learned we were tied with another applicant, Denhac, Denver's first Hacker's Collective. We visited with them and learned that our vision for the station overlapped significantly. We also realized that both organizations had limited resources to devote to the endeavor.

OMF wishes to express thanks to all of the people in this partnership and the donors who made the radio station launch possible.
Open Music Sessions - Friday, July 1
Featuring The Take
On the first Friday of each month, DOM hosts a community event with local performance groups, musical acts and nonprofit partners. These events are broadcast live on Comcast Channel 57 in Denver as well as streamed on DOM's website.  Events are cablecast and streamed live in Denver Open Media's Studio A.

Join DOM for this month's Open Music Sessions on Friday, July 1, featuring a live musical performance by The Take.

The Take is a rock band described as "a cherry red 1982 Trans Am with tee tops peeling out in the high school parking lot, a Chuck Norris spinning roundhouse kick to the bad guy's head, the rogue wave you never saw coming, the wolf outside your door."

There will also be a performance by comedian Zac Maas. The Colorado Black Arts Festival will be featured during the nonprofit spotlight.

There will be a free VIP/Ticketed reception upstairs at 7 pm for $20, featuring food by Illegal Pete's and Sexy Pizza. This reception is free for members of Denver Open Media.

And join us earlier for outside performances featuring Danielle Antonio, Haji Basim, and Matt Rouch.

Please join our Facebook event and share us!
