OMP Goes National
The Open Media Project (OMP) continues growing, now on the national stage!

MetroTV, operated by the Lane Council of Governments in Oregon, is our first client for the cost-effective software service from outside Colorado. This month, account executive Gavin Dahl will be speaking at the SEATOA conference to hundreds of local officials from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee about government transparency and public access TV. Plus, Gavin recently discussed the OMP in-depth on the Radio Survivor podcast.

Gavin asked to add a much-deserved shout out to Government Relations intern Daniel Day (see profile below), a Metro State University student, for his great work on archive migration, prospect research and Colorado Channel directing.
Video Client - The Colorado Education Initiative
The Video Production Department at Open Media Foundation has completed a video for The Colorado Education Initiative that highlights the Literary Design Collaborative (LDC). The LDC helps K-12 teachers improve how students read, write and communicate. Click here to watch the video, and click here to learn more about the video production services available at Open Media Foundation.
Colorado Impact Days
Open Media Project for Government (OMP for Gov) has been invited to participate in the first ever Colorado Impact Days, a multi-year strategy to elevate and accelerate impact investing statewide! Selected as 1 of 60 ventures, OMP for Gov will be presenting on our revolutionary suite of government transparency tools during the March 4 marketplace at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Join us from 3 to 6:30pm for the Social Venture Showcase and Community Celebration to see the top social ventures in Colorado and support OMF. We hope to see you there!
Denver YouTube Professionals Meetup
Join the March meetup of the Denver YouTube Professionals and a discussion on Gain More Subscribers & 'Screen Share Like a Bear', led by DOM member Anthony Prichard. The meeting starts at 4 pm on Friday, March 11, in studio A of Denver Open Media (700 Kalamath Street in Denver). Click here to RSVP.
Meet Daniel Day - Government Relations Intern
Daniel Day is studying journalism and technical communications at Metropolitan State University of Denver. As a Government Relations intern, Dan has already worked more than 100 hours supporting the Open Media Project (OMP) as well as crewing on the Colorado Channel.

He found out about Open Media Foundation by watching shows like Democracy Now and community programming from local members on Denver Open Media. After deciding to take the OMF tour, his eyes were opened to this opportunity and the chance to support a cause that impacts the community.

"I've learned the benefits of civic engagement that public agencies can utilize with the OMP," Day says. "I've also learned many technical skills while sorting, uploading and time-stamping archived videos we have transferred from commercial providers to YouTube and the OMP. I think that allowing the public to easily access information about local, state and federal policy is highly beneficial for society. Interested citizens have the ability to be well informed, provide more thorough feedback and hold policymakers accountable. Offering this through a community media center is important because it is easier to trust an organization that is providing its service for the common good rather than for corporate shareholders."

Meet Ginger Harris - OMF's New AmeriCorps VISTA
Join us in welcoming AmeriCorps VISTA member Ginger Harris to the OMF team.

Ginger studied English Lit and Integrated Studies in Science, Engineering, and Society at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she discovered her passion for media, mass communications, and telling stories in unique ways. After graduating, she decided to follow her interest in public service and media and began researching different AmeriCorps programs. Shortly after moving to Denver, she stumbled upon the position at Open Media Foundation and knew it would be a perfect fit.

Ginger joins two other extraordinary AmeriCorps VISTAs, Kelsey and Alice, in working to grow the capacity of OMF.

"I will be focusing on multiple VISTA objectives for the time being, learning as much as I can about OMF and our community, and continuing on the path paved by previous VISTAs to build capacity and expand our community presence. I am thrilled to be working alongside everyone at OMF striving to improve public access to media and give a voice to those in need!"
