DOM Equipment News - New Slider and Camera Support

Denver Open Media has acquired a few new items this month from the company Edelkrone. The new SliderPLUS has just arrived with the Target and Wizard modules. The Slider allows you to move a camera horizontally across an even space, like a skater dolly. The Target module eliminates the biggest hassle that the skater dollies create. You can compose your curved and parallax shots anywhere you can place your tripod. The Target will let your camera lock onto the subject and keep it in the same position inside the frame. The Wizard module records your actions and repeats your shot for you.

Commercial rental rates are $30 for the slider and $30 for the extra modules. Members can rent these for $15 each!

We also picked up this handy-dandy camera support - the PocketSHOT. With the PocketSHOT, you get a belt stick, chest support, top handle, tabletop mini stand and many different variations. The amount of setups you can get is literally endless!

The PocketSHOT is a FREE rental for members!
Letter from the Executive Director
We are busy gearing up for our annual fundraising breakfast, which will highlight the work of the Open Media Foundation - the services, education, and tools that we offer to give the power of media and technology to the people. Be sure to RSVP, if you have not already. We hope to see you there for this great event!
First Friday at Denver Open Media, May 2
On the first Friday of each month, DOM hosts a free community event with local performance groups, musical acts and nonprofit partners. These events are broadcast live on Comcast Channel 57 in Denver as well as streamed on DOM's website.  Events are cablecast and streamed live in Denver Open Media's Studio A.

Join DOM on the First Friday of May with a live music performance by Will Felton and a nonprofit spotlight featuring Mile High United Way.

William Felton (also known as Play or Chi) is an artist with a story like no other. Born on the East Coast, raised in Southeast Washington DC, Play transitions thru hip-hop and R&B seamlessly. His politically charged rhymes wrapped in melodic flows leave listeners wanting for more. William (a two time Iraq veteran) started making music while on his first combat tour in Iraq as a way to past time between patrols and missions. Recording became Play's therapy thru Iraq. An avid Radiohead fan Play's ability to rap at any tempo adds to his lure. His current project aptly titled "Not A Mixtape" is currently streaming on soundcloud.

A Higher Definition of Media: Annual Breakfast Fundraiser
Have you RSVPed for our favorite event of the year? In less than a month, the Open Media Foundation will host its Annual Breakfast Fundraiser - A Higher Definition of Media on Tuesday, May 20, 2014! This is a free breakfast for people to come and learn more about the Open Media Foundation. We will ask guests to consider making a contribution to support our youth programs, sponsor memberships, and make it possible to provide the services, education, and tools that enable everyone to represent their own voice in the media conversation! There is no minimum and no maximum gift required. It will be our job to inspire people to want to give. As much as anything, we want people to come and find out about the great programs offered at Open Media Foundation! As space is very limited, please let us know if you are able to make it as soon as you can. Hope you can join us for this really fun event! Please RSVP to Sarah Shirazi, at sarah@openmediafoundation.org or by calling 720-222-0159 x201.
