Greetings!
Spring puts a spirit of youth into everything!
We are finally out of winter hibernation and into a fresh energizing season! The weather here in the Pacific Northwest has been sunny, warm, and just plain awesome--shorts, sweatshirt and baseball hat weather! The days are getting longer, colors are blooming all around, windows are refreshingly open, and its time to lighten my load by cleaning out the junk that has made its way into the closet of my little girl spirit. To me, spring actually feels more like the start of the new year, than does January. Let's all get outside more, take long walks, daydream, seek a fresh perspective on an old problem, finish an abandoned project, and enjoy the cleansing and renewing qualities spring offers. Choose to be alive, Carole |

Corky and Carole at NATSAP Conference
|
The National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP) Annual Conference was held in Irvine, California in February. Attending were Carole Rosenberg, Roger White and Corky White. As in past years, Soltura was well received, with interest in Soltura coming from a number of areas. This conference is primarily for individuals and programs working with struggling teens and families. By networking with these programs, Soltura proposes to offer workshops to the parents of struggling teens enrolled in these schools and programs.
In late March, Carole attended the American Counseling Association Annual Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio. Helping out at this one was Mark Goldberg, a licensed psychologist, who has also completed the Part 1 workshop and plans to complete Part 2 this summer. This was our first time attending this conference and we found it informative. One suggestion we heard from a number of attendees was for Soltura to market the benefits of Soltura workshops for "Healing the Healers" ... helping counselors, therapists, and others in the the mental health field process and let go of what they deal with professionally with their clients. Other attendees felt it would be difficult to convince their clients to travel across the country to attend a workshop and suggested we offer additional workshops on the East Coast.

Feedback Corner...It's My Day!
When I signed up to be part of Soltura, I had no idea what my experience would be. I didn't know anyone who had participated in the workshops, I just signed up with the blind faith that it might be the answer to my struggle. I felt caught in a life I didn't like - I was full of hate, hurt and blame. I had just ended a relationship realizing that I didn't know much about myself. I had always been living a life for other people, living in everyone else's rhythm, and becoming the person I thought they wanted me to be. I lived in constant doubt and judgment of myself, and never thought I mattered enough to stand up for me. And in my relationship ending, I realized how lost I felt when I was left with just me. I had become so dependent on living someone else's life that I didn't even know how to be in my own presence or how to live the life I wanted. As I stared at all my goals and dreams posted on to-do lists, the knot of anxiety that permeated my life grew bigger. I felt angry and confused at how I had wandered so far from myself, but had no idea what to do about it so I just blamed others. At Soltura, I woke up out of my self-pity daze, and realized that "Hell yes, I matter enough to fight for!" I gave myself the best gift of my life - I gave myself ME, and I was totally worth it. Today I can look at myself without judgment or doubt. My anxiety is gone! Times can still be hard, but now I have the tools to pull myself back up again. Soltura has empowered me to live out loud the life I always wrote about on those damn to-do lists. I have found MY rhythm, and it is silly, beautiful, and roaring with courage. And in the wise words of Dr. Seuss: "When things start to happen, don't worry. Don't stew. Just go right along. You'll start happening too ... Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So ... get on your way!" Thanks to Soltura, and nine amazing women, I am happening now! Today is MY day. Courtney Cline, Washington - January 2013 |

Living Our Dreams - Sky Bound Blue
This column features members of our community who are living their passions and making dreams come true.

Sky Bound Blue, previously known as "The Behnkes" is the duo Matt and Jenny Behnke, who live outside Portland, Oregon. If you have attended a workshop recently, you may have seen their CD "Makin' Ready" in the Soltura store. Both Matt and Jenny are currently engaged in their individual journeys through the Soltura workshop trilogy and they have generously donated their CD to the Soltura store to help earn money for the scholarship fund. It is one of our most popular items...check it out if you have not already done so!
Matt and Jenny are living their dream, performing regularly at Northwest venues. They recently signed with Smoke Tree Records, a new indie label with major music industry connections. Smoke Tree has offices in New York City and Oregon and are excited to welcome Sky Bound Blue to their roster. Their debut album will be released nationally in October.
Matt and Jenny describe their music as "an eclectic Americana blend with a generous dollop of grit and soul and a splash of Nashville inspired bluegrass roots." The Behnkes spent thirteen years in Nashville working with some of the city's finest writers and players and a few years ago returned home to the Northwest to continue honing their craft.
Sky Bound Blue's songs reflect a playful wonder for what's to come, hopefulness, and the unyielding bond they share with each other. Their musical goals remain simple: keep getting better, keep having fun, and stay inspired! We wish them well...

Facilitator Spotlight
We are happy to welcome Becky Verbeten back into the volunteer facilitator lineup. Becky, who took two and a half years away to allow life to happen, came back to Lakebay in February to facilitate the Caught in a Twister workshop and will return again next week for another Part 1. A regular facilitator for several years, Becky also worked closely with Carole, helping with workshop registrations and travel logistics. We know she needed a break but are thrilled to have her back generously sharing her gifts and her Soltura journey with new workshop participants. Thank you, Becky, and welcome HOME!
Another one of our early volunteer facilitators, Lisa Beale Dehnke, is also scheduled to return to Lakebay this Spring to help facilitate the Spirit Wave workshop. Lisa was among the second group of women to participate in our workshops, even before we were Soltura. She then became a regular facilitator during the first couple years we were in business. Lisa's energy is truly special, so it will be a treat having her back!

Soltura Announces New Payment Policy
Our payment and refund policy has been revised as follows: (1) A non-refundable Registration Fee of $100 is due at the time of Registration and must be paid via credit or debit card. Personal checks will no longer be accepted. (2) Tuition fees will be due and payable in two parts; a deposit equal to 50% of the Tuition fee is due 90 days prior to the start of workshop, with the remaining Tuition balance due no later than 30 days prior to the workshop. Payment must be by credit card (Visa or MasterCard only) or electronic bank transfer. A written cancellation received 30 or more days prior to a workshop will result in a refund of all tuition fees paid to that date, excluding the non-refundable Registration Fee. If the cancellation is received less than 30 but more than 14 days prior to a workshop, none of the Tuition fees paid to date will be refunded but will be retained as a credit applicable to a future workshop scheduled within the next 12 months. A cancellation received 14 days or less prior to the start of a workshop will result in the forfeiture of all paid Tuition fees. No refund or credit will be issued. The revised payment and cancellation refund policy is included in the Workshop Terms & Conditions. The new policy will be effective for all workshops scheduled after August 1, 2013. We will work with anyone who has already registered for one of these workshops, for whom the new payment policy presents a hardship. The new cancellation refund policy will apply to all registrations.
