Provider Symposium Sponsored by Kaiser Permanente East Bay a Success

The SLI California Concussion Coalition held its first provider symposium on the West coast. Over 165 medical professionals gathered in Oakland, CA, on February 9 for "Concussion: What You Don't Know CAN Hurt You." The eight hour program provided continuing medical education credits and focused on evidence-based care for the brain injured patient in a provider's given practice.

SLI thanks Coalition co-chairs  Cindy J. Chang, M.D. and Eric J. Freitag, Psy.D. for making the event possible, and Coalition member Kaiser Permanente East Bay for sponsoring the event

SLI Hosts Press Conference at Super Bowl XLVII

On February 1, SLI urged state high school athletic associations to ban full-contact offseason practices and games at a press conference at the Super Bowl XLVII Media Center in New Orleans, LA. The press conference was the first time such a ban was proposed, and thanks to several current and former NFL players who voiced their support, we expect the proposal to succeed.
