GSUSA Joins Clinton Global Initiative

The New York Academy of Sciences and Girl Scouts of the USA announced last week a joint Clinton Global Initiative (CGA) America Commitment to Action to raise $3 million for a program to provide middle school girls with science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) role models and curricula activities.

GSUSA and the Academy will blend two successful programs-the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and the Academy's Afterschool STEM Mentoring Program-for a nationally scalable STEM mentoring program for girls. Together, the two organizations will plan, design, and implement a program to place professional scientists and volunteers together with Girl Scouts to provide hands-on, inquiry-based STEM instruction. The partnership aims to address the significant science achievement gap for girls by providing mentors to help change girls' attitudes toward STEM-related careers by increasing engagement, interest, and confidence in STEM subjects.

New Hartford Office Move Info

The current location of the New Hartford Service Center on Ellinwood Court closed as of June 14.You can find us at our new location at 600 French Road, New Hartford, NY 13413-1037 when we officially open on Monday, July 15.  The move comes as a result of Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways' property study completed last year. The office will be accessible to adults and girls, while reducing our costs and meeting the needs of the staff and volunteers in New Hartford.  Phone numbers and email addresses will remain the same. However, they may be down for a few days during the transition.  You can always reach our main office at 315.698.9400 or 800.943.4414.

Look for details of an open house celebration in the fall!

We look forward to seeing you all at our new home!
