Gold Awardees: Marisa, Clarrisa and Chelsea
|
.
Marisa V. is a senior at Vestal Senior High School with plans to attend LeMoyne and become a Spanish teacher. Marisa's Gold Take Action Project was "No Hero Left Forgotten." She organized sending of letters and care packages to servicewomen and men overseas. She worked with younger children in her school and church to set up pen pals with the soldiers.
Clarrisa W. of Owego is a graduate of Seton Catholic Central High School and is now a SUNY Oneonta student studying public relations/communications. Her Gold Take Action Project was holding a month-long "baby shower" for Mom's House, an organization that helps single mothers with young children attend school full-time. She organized an open house for Mom's House and painted a mural, and worked with young Girl Scouts to make baby blankets.
Chelsea Y. is a graduate of Victor Senior High School. For her Gold Take Action Project, Chelsea wanted to create a safe environment where people and their dogs could enjoy the outdoors. So she created a dog park, working with the town of Farmington. The town will take over the maintenance of the dog park.
