Photo of the Week!
Congratulations to Girl Scout Junior Troop 10631 of Marathon for winning the trip to the Buffalo Zoo and an overnight at the Aquarium of Niagara, June 15-16! Daisy, Brownie and Junior troops were eligible to win if 100% of the girls participated in the 2013 Cookie Program and sold an average of 175 boxes per girl. These Girl Scouts were surprised at their troop meeting yesterday by members of the GSNYPENN staff. Their trip begins with a stop at the Buffalo Zoo, then dinner and on to the Aquarium of Niagara where the aquarium team will guide them through activities, games and an interactive touch tank before they sleep with the sea lions, penguins and otters.
Look in next week's GSNYPENNews for the winner of the NYC trip! (There are still 25 spots left on the NYC trip! If your troop met the qualifications of 100% participation in the Cookie Program and 175 boxes sold per girl average, you qualify for 20% of the trip cost. Check it out! Deadline to register is May 3. $75 required to reserve a seat. Balance is due May 15.)

GS Commits to Financial Literacy for Girls
New research from GSRI released Monday |
The American dream is alive and well among girls, according to a new report by the Girl Scout Research Institute, which reveals that girls feel optimistic about their financial futures, yet are less than fully knowledgeable about essential financial principles and instruments, from using credit cards to establishing good credit. And just 12 percent of the girls surveyed say they feel confident in making financial decisions. Read more about the new study released on Monday! |
