From the CEO's Desk: Sharing the Warmth
Continuing my "'tis the season theme," from last week, this is also the season to stay warm through the clothing we wear, the heat in buildings we occupy, and exercise!
Unfortunately, many survivors of Hurricane Sandy are struggling to stay warm, but there is something we can do to help! The Girl Scout Movement is participating in the New York Cares Coat Drive and our council has registered to be a collection site. MORE |

Girl Scout Junior Troop 40464 of Auburn won first place in the city's annual holiday parade held Thanksgiving weekend! The float's winter wonderland included this ice sculpture honoring our 100th anniversary and an igloo made of 500 recycled milk jugs. First place prize was $150.

Former Executive Director Dies |
Jane Howland passed away Tuesday, November 27 in Geneva. Jane spent her life involved with the Girl Scouts, serving in various professional capacities including executive director of the Cayuga County Girl Scout Council from 1955-61 and then executive director of the Seven Lakes Girl Scout Council from 1961-85. Friends may call at the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home, 181 Main Street, Geneva from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec.7. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 in the Presbyterian Church in Geneva. MORE |
Gold Award Contender Launches 'BroomeQuest' |
 McGinnis M. wants to combat the image of Binghamton being named the most depressing city in the U.S. So for her Gold Award project she launched "BroomeQuest," placing 25 scavenger hunts in parks across Broome County to show off the great things she sees the county has.
