With the start of the new membership year are you planning any community service projects? Let us know about them! There are forms on our website that allow you to submit information either before or after the event so we can tell the community about the great things girls are doing! Have any of you ever thought you were misjudged or portrayed in a way that was unfair? It didn't feel very good did it? Unfortunately women are misrepresented in the media so often that many of us don't even recognize the damage this does to us and others.

Photo of the Week!
Girl Scout Troop 50095 of Alexandria Bay organized a toilet paper drive for families in need. They placed drop boxes at area businesses, hosted a lemonade stand and with the help of Tunes 92.5 FM produced a radio commercial to promote their campaign. The effort collected 696 rolls of toilet paper!

PJ Round-Up Kick-Off This Saturday!
Don't miss the PJ Round-Up Kick-Off this Saturday, October 20 at 11:30 a.m. at the Palace Theater in Syracuse! Those that bring a donation of a new pajamas for women, girls, or boys will be able to see the movie Alvin and the Chipmunks - Chipwrecked, for free! Troop leaders - if you bring Girl Scouts to the kick-off you will also receive a Delta Sonic coupon for one free car wash! PJ Round-Up is sponsored by the Girl Scouts, Summit Federal Credit Union, Progressive Graphics & Printing, and Enterprise. The donations will be given to families in transition through various agencies.

Girls! Apply for a Travel Destination!
There is still time for Girl Scouts, ages 11-17, to apply for a travel destination! There's a world outside your window just waiting for you to explore! Girl Scout destinations range from two days to three weeks. Log on to www.girlscouts.org/destinations to search for events, dates, location, age and category. Local Girl Scout Joins Peace Corps!
Jaclyn Escudero, a Girl Scout from Elmira, left in September to go to Cameroon, Africa for 27 months as part of the Peace Corps. She thanks Girl Scouts for giving her the courage and confidence to be able to take on this role and help the world. Click here to read more about what she'll be doing in Africa.

Don't Miss the Girl Scout Exhibit at the Discovery Center!!!
If you haven't taken yourself, your family, and your Girl Scout troop on a field trip to the Discovery Center in Binghamton, do so soon before the snow flies! The special hands-on exhibit will take you through Girl Scouting's 100 years of fun, from camping to cookies to travel! You'll be amazed! Don't miss it! The exhibit is only there until March 2013.
