Dear ESAR Racers,

Welcome Spring! It's been far too long...

With April just around the corner, we just wanted to send out a quick reminder that the ESAR early entry rates expire on April 10th.  Registering before this point enables you to save $30 per team, and locks you in for a kick-ass day of racing on some of the same trails that the world's elite will be faced with at this summer's Pan Am Games.  Hardwood Ski & Bike Centre near Barrie welcomes the 13th annual ESAR, and we can't wait to bring it to you!

Don't forget that the racer information package is now available for download - you can view it by clicking here.

Navigation Events and Clinics

Often at around this time of year we are asked if there are any scheduled clinics or other sessions available for navigation lessons or training prior to Race Day.  Although we do not host any ourselves, there are a number of options out there, so we thought we would compile them for you here:

Adventure Racing Training (Wilderness Traverse)
Canadian AR legend and Wilderness Traverse organizer Bob Miller will be hosting a free intro-to-adventure-racing seminar on April 23rd at Running Free in Markham, which will be followed by two full-day crash courses on the Saturday and Sunday at Kelso Conservation Area in Milton. Pricing for the crash course sessions and further details are available by clicking here

DontGetLost.ca
In addition to staging numerous events throughout the year (including
Raid the Rib coming up on April 11th), DontGetLost also offers navigation clinics hosted by some of the most experienced and knowledgeable instructors around.  There are two scheduled sessions coming up this weekend on March 29th, as well as one on May 31st - have a look by clicking here.

Toronto Orienteering Club
TOC hosts their Wednesday night park series from May through to September, and the first event is scheduled for May 6th.  These are a series of recreational and informal orienteering events which occasionally feature beginner and advanced-level navigation clinics (click on the "Services" link on the menu bar for more info).  Learn more by clicking here.

Stars Orienteering
The Stars club is based in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, and they have an upcoming training session on March 28th as well as their Urban Adventure Race event in Cambridge on April 19th.  This is a 2-hour score-format race in where teams of two can attempt as many checkpoints as they like in any order they like.  Check out the event calendar by clicking here.

Adventure Racing Ontario

Formerly known as the Ontario Adventure Racing Points Series (OARPS), the new Adventure Racing Ontario website has been just recently launched to reflect the new look and branding of Canada's largest association of AR events.  ESAR remains a proud member of the series, and offers a maximum of 100 points towards the overall standings. Check out the schedule and program overview at www.adventureracingontario.com

Looking forward to seeing you again in June!  If you are on Facebook, be sure to follow us at www.facebook.com/stormracing for even more race news and updates.
