Dear ESAR Racers,
With 2013 now officially upon us, things are really starting to ramp up for the 11th annual edition of the Emergency Services Adventure Race. This year's racecourse in the Beaver Valley is shaping up just beautifully, and we can't wait until June 15th when we get to finally unveil it!
Registration is now open, with early entry pricing in effect. The first 200 racers to register will receive custom ESAR 'THuG' headgear (yes, those things they wear on Survivor) which works brilliantly in keeping sweat off your brow or the sun off your neck & head. Guarantee one for yourself and each of your teammates

Adventure Racing Story Swap
On Saturday Feb. 16, join fellow racers and race organizers for the Adventure Racing Story Swap starting at 12:30pm at the Toby Jug Pub (15 Allan Drive in Bolton). This isn't an event just for experienced racers - in fact, if you and your friends are new to AR or have been thinking about trying the sport, this event is very much for you! Instead of bringing in the pros to share advanced tips for international racing, we've lined up a few local racers to share their learning experiences in the sport. The itinerary includes: 1) Chris Laughren on his first year of AR (2012), which included a finish in his first 24-hour adventure race 2) Team Bugs in Teeth (Sally Heath and Mike Simpson) on lessons learned as they moved into multi-day AR events 3) Race directors Bob Miller, Sean Roper, Jay Hahn and Barb Campbell with info about the upcoming 2013 season for Storm Racing, Wilderness Traverse, Angry Seagull, Logs Rocks & Steel and the Salomon Dontgetlost Adventure Running Series. And in case you want to get in some training beforehand to earn your beer, we've coordinated the timing with Golden Horseshoe Orienteering, who will be hosting the O-Cup #4 "Ice Breaker" event in the morning. It's a fun age/gender handicapped winter orienteering race just 15 minutes north of the pub. Click here to get more info and register for the race. There is no cost for the Story Swap but we hope attendees will thank the pub for supporting our sport by buying lunch and a drink. We'll need your RSVP for planning purposes as this British-style pub is cozy! If interested, e-mail Barb at info@wildernesstraverse.ca to reserve your place.
