1:1 Junior Mentor Program,
The Mentor Program is unique to NHHS. It has a long tradition at NHHS, beginning 17 years ago as a component of the first small learning community on campus, the "Da Vinci Academy". The Mentor program has continued to grow and is now open to all juniors who wish to participate. The program runs from late Spring of the sophomore year through Spring of the junior year. Mentors provide career job shadowing and help students explore career options while being an adult listener outside of family and school who can empathize with students about being a teen in our complicated world, and help students develop decision making skills.
Please be sure to read all the information and program documents carefully when you receive them. Updates in general will also be posted on the NHHS website under "Programs" then "Junior Mentoring".
Any questions or concerns please contact Mentor Coordinators at:

Absence Phone Line:
When your student is absent, please report it.
Call (949) 515-6305
Just a reminder that no student will be released from school over the telephone and no early dismissals will be issued over the telephone. The parent/guardian should send their student to school with a note to obtain an Off Campus Permit. The student needs to give their note to Attendance before school or at break.
In the event of an emergency, a parent/guardian must come into the Attendance Office and sign the student out of school. The Attendance Office will not telephone classrooms to have students excused from school out of respect for instructional time.
If a student becomes ill while at school, the student should not call their parent. They should instead go to the nurse's office. The nurse will call home for the student.
Thank you to all Newport Harbor parents and students for your understanding and your cooperation.
