The 8th ANNUAL GRANDPARENTS' DAY was a huge success, thanks to NHHS teachers, ASB tour guides & our volunteers!
NHHS Grandparents Gretchen & Preston Lee were the proud Co-Chairmen of the 8th Annual Grandparents' Day at Newport Harbor High last Friday, March 15. Thanks to these teachers, 150 interested grandparents toured Mr. Constandse's chemistry class, Mr. Gilbert's earth science class, Ms. Cermak's digital media arts class, Matt Johnson's and Mrs. Barnebey's English classes and Sarah Wall's culinary arts class. Grandparents enjoyed five different desserts, all deliciously prepared and served by those talented NHHS culinary arts students. Thanks to parents Brian McCarthy and Jeff Newman and alumna Graham Tingler who helped guide grandparents into parking spaces on the basketball courts. 150 Grandparents joined their 120 grandchildren for lunch in the gym after their tour, thanks to lunch chairman Nancy Eaton, and her terrific team of volunteers: Elaine Byers, Lisa Daly, Buffi Hendrix, Donna Medelberg, Bridget Skinner, Kyle Team, Sue Willett & Amy Wolken. NHHS staff made this all possible, so we graciously thank Dr. David Martinez, Cynthia Ballreich, NHHS custodial staff and Adrianna Wood and her golf cart!
***If you would like your grandparents to be invited next year, be sure to enter their names and addresses during the summer online registration process, or email Diana Long, Executive Director of Newport Harbor Educational Foundation at dlong@nmusd.us.
