Saturday, March 4 at 8:15pm: Igor and the Crane's Journey (view trailer)
Sunday, March 5 at 10:30am: The Journey of Vaan Nguyen (view trailer)
Sunday, March 5 at 2:00pm: Turn left at the end of the world (view trailer)

Each of the three films presents a portrait of an immigrant journey in which protagonists question who they are in a country whose culture is so different from their place of birth.
The universality and relevance of this question will be among the issues raised during moderated discussions following each film.

The weekend also includes an art exhibit byAlice Zilberberg, an award-winning photographer and visual artist.
The festival's $30 admission includes all three films and lunch on Sunday. One day only ticket price is $20. To order tickets please call 905.522.1351

Go Forward!

The idea of being "trapped" is a real issue that we often face in life.   Our dilemmas may stem from bad relationships, financial difficulties, career dissatisfaction or personal struggles.  How we react defines who we are.

As the Children of Israel were caught between the mighty chariots of Pharaoh and the raging waters of the Sea, they responded with prayer.  God's response?  "Mah titzak elay" - Why do you cry out to Me? Go forward!

R' Chaim ben Atar (Or Hachayim, 1696-1743) comments that the highest form of prayer is one that is accompanied by a footstep.  Prayer can only be activated when we have the strength and resolve to push forward in life and confront the challenges of the day.  We prayed at the banks of the Sea.  All that was left was for us to place our foot forward.  As the State of Israel enters a new and exciting period of history, may we have the faith to look Above and the strength to "go forward" to face the challenges of our age.

Shabbat Shalom.
