Piemontese Passions: The Wines of the Pelissero Family 

It is difficult to tell from the myriad of vineyards, verdant fields, and abundant orchards that criss cross the hills of the Langhe, but this land used to sit under thousands of feet of water. What once was an ocean millions of years ago, is now one of the most fertile regions of Italian soil on the entire peninsula. The ancient seabed can still be found today, buried deep beneath the dirt in layers of limestone and wafting from every glass of wine produced from its soil.
