Don't panic but Thanksgiving is 2 weeks from Thursday (We hope you didn't think the subject line was referring to any political candidates!).  Panzano has many of the items you will need to make your feast, up to and including the entire feast- cooked and ready to serve!  Our Thanksgiving menu is now available and we are accepting orders.

We are very excited to announce a wine dinner on Friday November 30th with Piemontese winemaker Casa Vincola DeForville.  This five course dinner will be hosted by Michael Kane of Rosenthal Imports and will begin at 6:30PM.  Michael will be holding a free tasting of the DeForville wines at Panzano just prior to the dinner, starting at 5:30PM.  The dinner is $90/person plus tax and gratuity.   Please call 508-481-8484 or book online.

Please note: Our regular weekly Saturday wine tasting will now be held from 2PM-5PM at Panzano.  We think this will be more convenient for our customers.  Let us know what you think.

A Slice of History & a Taste of Origin

Featured this week Aged Pecorino Toscano

Here at Panzano, we love outstanding wine and food. One way to ensure the highest quality of wine, for example, is through appellation. The concept of appellations derives from the wine world, where it serves to guarantee the quality of what's in the bottle: A wine with DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata-- translating to "controlled designation of origin") on the label must be made in a specific area and following specific procedures. This keeps producers from outside a particular wine-producing region from calling their wine something that sells, for example, Chianti or Barbaresco. However, the idea of appellation has spread throughout the world beyond wine to food as well. In Italy, DOP is parallel to their DOC classification for wine, but applies to various cheeses, meats, breads and pastas from throughout the various regions of Italy.

A Vision of Alba

La Segnora Sardegna, Lady Sardinia as the Italians call her, is an ancient land of rugged beauty whose scenery and culture is more multifaceted than any other wine region laid claim by Italy. Located in the center of one of the largest expanses of open ocean in the western Mediterranean, there is nothing that the sea does not touch here. Waves crash like thunder against soaring seaside cliffs crowned by nuraghi, the Stone Age towers built by the island's first inhabitants that still stand to this day. Rain from storms charged over the open sea water the fertile plains of Sardinia's eastern side, a place covered in a patchwork of wheat fields and horse ranches.  READ MORE>
