Surfing the SoulCollage "Net"

SoulCollage Facilitator

Many in the SoulCollage community share romantic affinity for the second century Buddhist metaphor, "Indra's Net", which Seena Frost describes in her book, SoulCollage Evolving.  This mystical story describes our nature as one of an infinite number of jewels, glimmering and reflecting others along the continuum of space and time. As a relatively new facilitator of SoulCollage, I feel as though I have caught a wave of energy emerging from the collective expression, intention, and creativity of the precious jewels in this beautiful net.

Perhaps you'll resonate with the profound awareness of finding yourself in the "flow" of consciousness when doing experiential work with others? It's quite like the sensation of being pulled along by a current of water or the swelling of a wave. As facilitators, we formulate an intention to navigate people through subject material and process - then, (at a certain point) we recognize we're more like a vessel instead of a navigator. It's a captivating experience to say the least.

SoulCollage emerged for me as a practice through which I am able to connect with people and use interpersonal gifts that have been with me as long as I can remember. Connections happen at many levels. Images, imagination and intuition enable people to open up, share, experience non-judgment, and feel genuine support as they discover inner truths. Facilitating the process and applying my direct marketing career skills are making for a delicious feast of self-expression and fulfillment!

I am not a therapist, counselor, or professional artist. I consider myself a layperson with passion for transformation, desiring to serve others and act as a change agent for peace. It has been such a gratifying experience to be welcomed by the SoulCollage community. A number of former group and individual facilitation roles provide valuable frame of reference for me as I continue learning and deepening my work with SoulCollage.

Like the jewels of Indra's Net, we all truly do reflect varied facets of special teachers, mentors, and close relationships in our lives. I had the privilege of being coached for several years by masters. It was during that time when I integrated key understanding about context for doing self-discovery, and about being grounded in clear intention. I purposefully define these as my "compass" to be as effective as possible when I facilitate SoulCollage workshops.  I was drawn to attend facilitator training by the opportunity to deepen my understanding, learn workshop best practices, tap into available resources, and build relationships within the community.  My experience of training under Seena Frost and her team of SoulCollage leaders, as well as the online course instructors has given me the opportunity of working with many glimmering examples from within the SoulCollage "net". But the greatest teachers, for me, have been the groups of people with whom I've engaged as they emerged from crisis, addiction, trafficking and unspeakable personal tragedy - demonstrating through living action how important it is to be accepted unconditionally and to be held capable.

As I continue surfing the SoulCollage "net", I hope to embody the compassionate, authentic nature of the facilitators I most admire, share the process in a way that inspires students, and contribute as much as possible to Seena Frost's universal collection of jewels!
