Principal's Message

Dear Encinal Families,

We're excited to welcome everyone to campus on Thursday, May 30th for our annual Open House.  Students have been working hard all year and are excited to show some of their work to the community. Be sure to check out the Art Fair and enjoy a meal with other Encinal families from the food trucks or bring your own picnic. It'll be a wonderful celebration - looking forward to seeing everyone!

And, please remember, there is no school on Monday, May 27th in observance of Memorial Day.

Sincerely,
Sharon Burns

mpcsdmtgO'Connor Site Decision-Making Process
Next Meeting: Wed, May 29th, 6:30pm at Hillview PAC

Please be reminded the MPCSD Board will be having a special Board meeting on Wednesday, May 29th, to be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Hillview Performing Arts Center.

Since last summer, our District has been working hard to plan for new enrollment growth. While most California public school districts are experiencing flat or declining growth, we are one of a select few high-performing districts that families are flocking to - we have grown 40% in the past decade.

As you likely already know, the Board has decided to meet this enrollment challenge by opening a fourth elementary school on the District-owned O'Connor site.

At the May 29 special Board meeting, the Board will:

  • provide a comprehensive update on the overall work that has taken place
  • evaluate the cost/benefit analyses of the options for the O'Connor site
  • give direction on the desired size and scope of a potential bond measure

Please refer to Superintendent Ghysels May 23rd Newsletter for more information. Also, the District staff's FAQ on the O'Connor site can be found here

Questions or want to provide input? Please email the Board at
board@mpcsd.org.

2. Same run = more fun!  This year's run has attracted more attention from our local sponsors than ever before...from first-time sponsors who are excited to be a part of this first-annual run to long-time, loyal Otter Run sponsors who are thrilled to be a part of its expansion.  There is also going to be a fabulous Wellness Fair after the run that will promote fun and fitness for the entire family.  Be sure to check out our sponsor page and support our sponsors!

3. We've gone high-tech!  This year we've gone high-tech and need you to register online! To ensure that we have your t-shirt size in time for race day, we need you to sign up online before May 17th!  And, do you want your name on the first-annual t-shirt?  Hurry and sign up to be a family sponsor while spots are still available.

hrpHead Room Parents Needed for Next Year

volunteer
If you'd like to be involved in your child's classroom next year, with the added bonus of getting to know your teacher and the other parents in your class, then you should consider being a Head Room Parent!

You'll be the liaison between your teacher and classroom families, assisting the teacher as needed and organizing volunteers for things like field trips, class parties, and special events like Cultural Arts Day - and most of the job can be done by email, so it's ideal both for parents who have limited time to be in the classroom, and for those who want to fill an important role and still have time to be in the classroom on a day-to-day basis.

For more information or to volunteer, email the Encinal HRP Coordinators, and let us know your child's name so that we can place you with their class when the lists are published in August.
