Please Review Encinal Emergency Preparedness Procedures
Encinal School is committed to the safety of our students. Please take a few minutes to become familiar with Encinal's Emergency Preparedness Procedures. These procedures are for all major emergencies including earthquakes, fires, and lock down situations.
When you registered your child for school, you were required to fill out an Emergency ID tag which named adults who are authorized to pick up your child in case of emergency. If you'd like to add or edit names to this tag, you may do so by downloading and filling out this form and turning it into the Encinal office to process.

Get Involved: PTO Volunteers Needed in January
We are grateful for the incredible group of parent and grandparent volunteers that coordinate and run PTO sponsored activities. We are seeking a few more volunteers to help us this Winter & Spring. Please consider these opportunities.
PTO Board Nominating Committee: This committee will receive suggestions for persons to serve as PTO Board officers next school year, brainstorm potential nominees and help to contact potential nominees to confirm their willingness to serve. We will have monthly meetings from January to April and then present the slate of officers to the Executive Board in April and at the General Membership Meeting in May. Contact Robin Soran to submit your name or for more questions.
SPINGO Chair/Co-Chairs: Coordinate Encinal's Spring family fun event on April 19th with family fun night committee. (SPINGO - Science, Pizza, Bingo)
Fifth Grade Picnic Chair/Co-chairs: Plan for food and activities with help of committee volunteers for this end-of-year event for 5th grade students on June 11th. There are numerous volunteers already wiling to help with the event, but we need an overall coordinator or co-coordinators.
Bike/Walk/Carpool Event Coordinator: Help plan an event (or two) this Spring to help promote bike/walk/carpools at Encinal.
Spring 3rd grade Laurel/Encinal family social: Plan family event to welcome Laurel families and students to Encinal.

Wed, January 16, 2013, 6:30-8:30 pm, Hillview PAC
Parenting during the digital age presents special challenges. Parents typically don't have role models themselves and there are few clear guidelines about how to manage their children's behavior. My Digital TAT2 specializes in how today's children are growing up in a "living out loud" digital world and believes in creating an online community based in kindness and respect. Through short video clips and group discussion, parents will learn about cyber-bullying, digital 'footprints,' social networking sites and common sense strategies for cyber-safety. Overuse and supervision will also be explored. Parents will leave with better cyber-sense along with tools to help guide their children to become smart, ethical producers and consumers of technology.
Discussion will be led by Gloria Moskowitz-Sweet, PPSC, LCSW and Erica Pelavin, LCSW, Ph.D of My Digital TAT2.

Building assets in our children might be some of the most important work we do as parents. How can we help our kids thrive? What is most important in helping my child succeed in school academically AND in life? How can I show my child I support their efforts and dreams? These questions and more will be answered in a 6-week parent study group series facilitated by Pam Von Wiegand, founder of Project Cornerstone.
