Dear Encinal Families,
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the Fall Family Picnic & Bike Rodeo this year! It was great to see such community support and to spend time with one another. It was quite evident that the children really loved riding their bikes, zumba dancing, winning prizes, and hanging out with their friends. A special thank you to the PTO volunteers who spent countless hours arranging, setting up, and cleaning up for this popular event. Your time and efforts are much appreciated!
Sincerely,
Principal Burns

Encinal PTO and MPAEF are Working Together to Support Our School
|
4 days to go! Are you in for Encinal? Our joint campaign ends this Thursday, September 27, we are counting on your donation to fund our PTO programs for this school year. Please take the time to JOIN NOW. THANK YOU to the many families who have already contributed to the Encinal PTO and donated or pledged to the MPAEF - your generosity and support is much appreciated. This Thursday, September 27 is Are You In? Day. Kids and parents, please wear orange to show you are IN for Encinal on Sept 27. We'll see you curbside to celebrate all that our Encinal community will accomplish this year! Currently 46% of families at Encinal have donated, and our goal is 100% participation. It is important to us that every family is "IN" for Encinal! The minimum membership is only $10, although the amount needed to fund all of the wonderful programs and services of the PTO for this year is $200+ per child. When you donate you'll also get a FREE Encinal shopping bag! Does your company offer Corporate Matching? Last year, Encinal PTO received an additional $10,000 through corporate matching! The Encinal PTO has already started to fund its programs and needs to raise $54,000 by the close of the campaign to fund planned programs this year, including field trips and much more. To donate to the Encinal PTO, click HERE. The MPAEF will continue its fundraising to meet our $4 million goal and 80% participation after the close of the joint campaign. If you aren't ready to donate now, you can still make a pledge to be fulfilled at a later date. This is a great way to space out your giving to fit your needs. Of course, if you are ready to donate now, please do so! To donate or pledge to the MPAEF, click HERE. If you have other questions about the joint campaign, the PTO, the MPAEF, or school funding, click HERE for the answers. Do you want to be a Ninja too? Click this link to hear what our kids have to say about their favorite times at school and how the PTO & MPAEF support them.

Volunteers Needed: Encinal Harvest Festival
Friday, October 5th
It's Harvest time again! Encinal School's 3rd annual Harvest Festival will feature Colonial America and the garden of Thomas Jefferson. Each 4th and 5th grade classroom will have about an hour in the garden to visit stations where they can taste food grown in the garden, harvest food and get a taste of daily life in the colonial era. It's a fun and educational way to get the kids excited about starting the garden curriculum.
In order for the Harvest Festival to be a success we need MANY volunteers. Volunteers are needed for each station, and are asked to work a morning (8:30-noon) or afternoon (12:30-3) shift. Please sign-up online through Sign-Up Genius here.
Station Descriptions:
HARVEST Station: Students will harvest food growing in the garden and learn about Thomas Jefferson's garden.
FOOD Station: Students will sample a colonial meal and learn about colonial table manners. (Detailed info about food for those with allergies is in the printed flyer in your student's green folder)
DAILY LIFE Station: Students will select from a number of hands on opportunities to see what life was like during the colonial era including: making a rag rug, writing with a quill pen, making butter, trying out simple games, and other activities. Volunteers are asked to sign up for a specific activity of their choice.
COLONIAL ARTIFACTS Station: A Colonial Docent will help students will learn about items from the colonial period.
If you are not available to help at the Festival, please consider donating food or equipment. Volunteers are also needed on Thursday, October 4th, from 11:30 to 1:30 to prep food, and from 3:00 to 4:00 after the festival for clean up. To get more information or to sign up visit the Sign Up site.
