Here's the Scoop!
March 26th, 2015

The pansies and other winter annuals that have survived our winter cold blasts should be looking happier with the recent warm temperatures and rains. With the rain, though, winter weeds are popping up in flower beds. It's important that you keep on top of these so your blooming areas don't turn to weeds!

 An
annual winter weed coming up everywhere now is chickweed. This one starts out tiny but spreads quickly. Look HERE for more information on it.

We received our first shipment of Easter lilies yesterday if you need one to give as a gift or to have in your home to celebrate the holiday. And, with  Easter right around the corner, so is spring planting. Our last average frost date is the middle of April  though, and the soil is still too cold for the real heat lovers, caladiums, zinnias, begonias and vinca in particular. And, while we're on the subject, keep an eye on the low temperatures this weekend, Friday and Saturday night.

The first shipments of geraniums, pictured here, and cool season allysum, nemesia and petunias have been beautiful if you need some color in easily covered planters now. Our first shipments of Kimberly Queen ferns, macho ferns and plumbago have also arrived. Be prepared to cover any of these if temperatures drop in the next few weeks.

Enjoy the rest of the week and spring break, and we'll see you soon.
