Here's the Scoop!
October 9th, 2014
The yellow and scarlet snapdragons shown here are just one option of many for fall planting. Pansies, violas, foxglove, poppies, and dianthus are a few more. And don't forget all the beautiful ornamental and edible greens and herbs to add color, scent and taste, including lettuce, kale, mustards, chard, parsley and rosemary - to name just a few!
If all these choices leave you with questions, you might find it helpful to read this website post on container gardening, and here's a repeat from last week's newsletter on fall planting for any of you who missed it. There you'll find links about plants, and planting tips for getting your garden and containers ready for the new season. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have more questions when you stop in.
In the market the first of the persimmons, Asian pears and even some Alabama grown kiwis from Petals From the Past arrived this week. Tomatoes are still plentiful as well and have been delicious.
The pumpkin season is in full swing, and we have some beauties....though, admittedly, beauty is in the eye of the beholder when it comes to the "warty" gourds , "peanut" pumpkins and the incredible snake gourds. Need some big white ones? We've got those too!
Have a wonderful weekend, and we'll see you soon.
