Here's the Scoop!
 April 3rd, 2014

We know you're all itching to get out in the garden and plant with this week's warm temperatures, but we caution you not to put heat loving vegetables, herbs, and annuals in garden beds too early. These include tomatoes, peppers and other summer vegetables, as well as zinnas, begonias, caladiums and vinca. Soil temperatures still need to warm more for these plants to thrive - and that's the name of the game! We will be getting our first of shipments of summer flowers at the end of this week though, for those of you who can't wait.

The planter shown here is one that will do very well until the real heat sets in and it is time to plant for our long growing season. It includes a pretty plant called diascia, a geranium, white sweet allysum, and perennial foliage plants, heuchera and variegated carex.

How many of you have tried to grow lavender? We're excited to offer a new selection available this year, Lavender 'Phenomenal'.  It's touted to be an excellent lavender that will thrive in our southern heat and humidity and will be supplied by a local grower. Take a look HERE for more information.

The succulent craze continues, and we're right on board with it. Look HERE at some of the things we've been doing with them. With so many to choose from, it's really fun to put together combinations that work and are beautiful too.

Thanks for reading, and we hope to see you soon.
