Principal's Note

principal

Once again winter has interrupted our lives and brought with it the beauty of glistening snow and the fury of the wind. It is my hope that all of you and your children weathered the storm well and have had an opportunity to enjoy your time together.

Winter continues to remind me that I have very little control over the school calendar. I have been asked about graduations, dances, field trips and end of the year activities. Please know that I am not withholding information or trying to be difficult, but we still have much of the winter ahead of us and dates cannot be determined this early in the school year.  Graduation dates are not set until sometime in April and are determined with the assistance of the diocesan office.

Thank you for your understanding.
Lenten Reflections

The season of Lent begins this week with Ash Wednesday. As I reflect on the many Lenten seasons I spent as a child, I am reminded that my focus  was always on "giving up something" and Lent always became a challenge that I most often failed to sustain. As a parent and teacher, I chose to focus on the positive during Lent, suggesting to my children and students that Lent is a time to deepen our relationship with God.  Relationship building takes time and commitment to prayer, acts of service, and reflection on our faith.

As a student at St. Jude School, your children build their relationship with God each and every day. During this Lenten season there will be many opportunities to continue to grow in prayer, service and faith as a school community. Students will participate in weekly Stations of the Cross, reach out to those in need at the Bridgeport Resucue Mission with our school-wide "Pasta Project" and focus their prayer using the "Prayer Bowl".

As you reflect with your children on how your family will celebrate Lent this year, I encourage you to think about putting a positive spin on the 40 Days and making a difference in your family's relationship with God and one another.

Don't Miss an Issue of the Weekly Crusader!

We have heard from time to time some people are not receiving the weekly notices.  While we are not seeing the emails being bounced back from our standpoint, based on our research something occasionally can be blocking the message in cyberspace.

In order to avoid this from happening to you, be sure to add stjudeschooloffice@diobptedu.org to your "safe senders" list of your email so you never miss an issue.  Also, we try to have the notices go out regularly at 7pm each Sunday night, so if you don't receive it, please check in with us.
