"Buy a Bird" for a Family in Need Fundraiser

Be a part of this ministry tradition!  Your generous donation of $20 will buy a turkey or ham for someone in need, and a donation of $30 will cover the cost of an entire meal.  Isaiah 58 Ministries is depending upon people like you to help make the holidays meaningful for families who are less fortunate.  This fundraiser will continue through December 31st.

November 1, Turkey Supper, 3-7pm
 

Friedens UCC, 980 Main St., Moscow Mills, invites you to our annual Turkey Supper on Saturday, November 1st, with serving from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Menu includes:  All you can eat turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, slaw, green beans, corn, homemade bread, pie and cake.  Cost is:  Adults $10.00; Children (7 through 12 yrs.) $5.00; and children (6 yrs. and under) free. Carry outs are available.  We'll also have our Country Store which always has lots of yummy things as well as crafts.

November 1, Annual Holiday Bazaar, 8:30am-2:30pm

St. John's Chapel, United Church of Christ, 4344 S. Fremont, Springfield, Mo. will be having their annual Holiday Bazaar, Saturday, Nov. 1st,  8:30am to 2:30pm.  This has been occuring for over 25 years.  Lots of vendors,  our circle sells cookbooks, baked good, and will have a treasure table with lots of good items.  A very good lunch of soup, sandwiches, dessert and drink will be served 11:00am to 1:30pm  We will also have a free showing of a Native American collection.

Cajun Dinner on Thursday, 11/6 at St. Johns EUCC, St. Louis.  This a fundraiser to support Back Bay Mission in Biloxi, MS.  Chris Marlin-Warfield from Back Bay Mission will be our guest speaker and providing a 20-25minute presentation.

November 7-8, Cabaret Night, 8pm

On Friday, November 7 and Saturday, November 8, at 8:00 p.m., St. John UCC, 405 S Fifth Street, Saint Charles, will be hosting a Cabaret Night featuring Performing Arts Camp performers. Tickets are $25 each, which includes appetizers and two drinks. This is for adults only, 21 and up. Tickets must be purchased in advance, no holding tickets. November 8, Art & Soul Event, 6:30pm 


Now in its 4th year, Art & Soul is a celebration of Neighborhood Houses and how art reaches across boundaries such as poverty and challenging urban neighborhoods to help strengthen children and youth. The event will feature unique works of art in many forms, done by artists of all ages. St. Luke's UCC, Independence, will host the KC Men's Chorus at 6:00 PM. The youth will provide a freewill offering meal at 5:00 PM, prior to the concert. The concert is free but a donation will be

taken to benefit Steppingstone.

November 13, St. Louis 20-30 Authorized Clergy Event, 4-6pm

St Louis 20-30 Authorized Clergy Gathering. All authorized religious leaders (clergy, imams, rabbis, etc) under the age of 40 are invited to gather for an opportunity to network and create community with others in the metro St Louis area. We'll have light snacks and a casual program focused on meeting one another and finding connections.

November 14-15, LIFE Program at Eden

LIFE (Lifelong Learner Institute of Faith Exploration) is a program of retreats that invites lay men and women to study scripture and explore Christian faith and life. It challenges participants to become life long learners and disciples, faithful witnesses to the gospel and faithful members and leaders of the church. LIFE is sponsored jointly by the Missouri Mid-South Conference, the Illinois South Conference and Eden Theological Seminary (all United Church of Christ) with participants coming from many different denominations and faith traditions.

November 15, 5th Anniversary Taste of Home Cooking School, 9am

 

Emmaus Homes will be hosting the 5th Anniversary Taste of Home Cooking School at First Christian Church in Washington, MO. The show will feature the popular vendor fair again this year with more than 30 local vendors selling a variety of items including holiday decorations, food, jewelry, and more. The 2-hour Cooking School will be taught by Taste of Home culinary specialist Karen Davis and will feature 10 new irresistible fall recipes. The doors open for the vendor fair at 9 a.m. and the Cooking School begins at 1 p.m. Buy your tickets today!  We have a variety of ticket options that offers a unique experience to everyone.All proceeds benefit the more than 250 adults with developmental disabilities Emmaus is so blessed to serve.

Dr. Jing (Cathy) Zhang will speak on the context for the China Christian Church and the needs for theological education and leadership in the future. Dr. Zhang received her Masters of Theological Studies degree from Eden in 2006. She is Assistant to the Director at the School of Liberal Arts at Renmin University of China.

Sixth Annual Tannenbaum Auction and Celebration to be held November 19-20 with 100%

of the proceeds to benefit The Friends of Emmaus organization.  The Event will be held

November 21-22, Conference Middle School Event

The Conference Middle School Event will be held November 21st - 22nd at Camp MoVal.  All youth in grades 6th - 8th are invited to attend this awesome retreat along with their adult youth leaders.  The fun will start on Friday evening at 7 pm and we will conclude the retreat at 5 pm on Saturday. 

Sheltered Reality will be our special guests on Saturday to not only share their music and message with us, but to teach us how to create music together.  We will also have plenty of time to enjoy the fun activities of Camp MoVal.

December 6, 7 & 13, Jazz Nativity, 3pm

What Child is this?: A Jazz Nativity returns this December for its 4th season with an all-new  production.  The Oîkos Ensemble under the direction of saxophonist, Rev.Cliff Aerie, will return as the musical hosts. They will once again welcome one of St. Louis' great jazz vocalists, Ms. Kim Fuller, as their special guest artist. At each performance you will be uplifted by the professional caliber of the musicians, soloists, and storytellers. Be prepared to sing, laugh and feel the true meaning of the Christmas spirit through the joy of jazz. And each performance is FREE!

Support Staff Network Gathering To Be Held In Ft. Wayne In 2015.  Support staff members (administrative assistants, secretaries, office managers, bookkeepers, etc.) from all settings of the United Church of Christ are strongly encouraged to join the United Church of Christ Office Support Staff Network (UCCOSSN) at their 2015 Annual Conference to be held in Ft. Wayne, Ind. April 9-11, 2015. "Rediscovering the Joy of Play" will be the theme for this time of networking, fellowship, professional growth and retreat for those who keep our offices running.
