October 4, MoVal Golf Tournament

Camp MoVal's annual Golf Tournament and Fund Raiser is on Saturday, October 4, with a 1:30 pm shotgun start. The funds raised from this annual event allow Camp MoVal to continually provide scholarships to anyone interested in participating at the camp and its programs. This event also allows us to invest in making several improvements to our facilities at MoVal.

 

Your continued support of Camp MoVal and Outdoor Ministries is allowing us to be successful in reaching out, providing outdoor opportunities, creating a safe space where all are welcome to participate and providing dynamic and life-changing programs. Please come out on October 4, 2014 and support your outdoor ministries program! October 4, Spaghetti Supper, 4:30-7:30pm

The Women's Fellowship of Brentwood Congregational Church UCC, 2400 S.  Brentwood Blvd, Brentwood (63144) will again hold their famous Spaghetti Supper on October 4. We will be serving from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. The meal will be all you can eat for $7/adults and $3.50 for children under 12. There will be carry out available and lots of delicious homemade desserts to go with the spaghetti, salad and bread.   

 

Park in the lower parking lot (by the fire station) and enter through the glass doors off the parking lot.  Please join us and bring your friends and neighbors.

October 4, Trivia Night, 6pm 

 

Trivia Night, Saturday, October 4th at Mount Tabor UCC. 6520 Arsenal St., St. Louis, MO.  Doors open at 6 p.m. Trivia begins at 7 p.m.  Door prizes, raffles, 50/50 drawings and silent auction.  $20 per person or $150 for a table of 8.  Beer, soda, pretzels, and popcorn provided.  Feel free to bring additional snacks or drinks for your table.  Proceeds go to sending youth to church camp and the Hi Pointe Center and Food Pantry.  Call 314-645-9025 for information and reservations.

Friedens Pease UCC at 3560 Mill Street in New Melle invites you to our annual Sausage & Beef Dinner. Our traditional whole hog sausage is made with a secret recipe handed down over many years. Or you may prefer our slow roasted top round beef and Gravy. Maybe you want to enjoy both, with all the fixings (kraut, green beans, corn, mash potatoes, dessert and drink) . October 8, Emmaus Homes St. Charles Campus Auction  

 

SAVE THE DATE! Emmaus Homes moved into their new corporate offices earlier this year and are hosting an auction to clear out their previous office buildings. The auction will feature office furniture, antiques, commercial kitchen equipment, and more. A more detailed list of items will be published closer to the Auction Date.  All proceeds from the auction will benefit the more than 250 adults with developmental disabilities Emmaus serves. We will also have food and refreshments for sale throughout the day. Look for more details to come soon!

October 11, Housebuilding Opportunity, 8am-4pm 

 

The Grace UCC, O'Fallon Mission/Outreach Committee has committed to help build a house on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 8AM to 4PM.  They usually start wrapping up around 3:00.  We need at least 10 volunteers and so far only 3 persons have signed up.  The home we will be working on is on Salt Lick Road, just past Church on the Rock.  A volunteer must be 16 years of age or older.  Carpentry skills are helpful, but not required.  They will find something for everyone to do.  Please E-mail Kathy Dunlap at dunlap2776@charter.net if you can help.  If we don't get enough volunteers, we will need to let them know so that they can make other arrangements.  Please prayerfully consider this volunteer opportunity.

October 12, Fundraising Dinner & Basket Raffle, Noon-3pm

 

St. Mark United Church of Christ in Arnold will host a fundraising dinner and basket raffle on Sunday, Oct. 12, from noon until 3:00 p.m. Menu choices include fried chicken, beef brisket, or chicken strips with side dishes and homemade desserts. Prices are $12.00 for adults and $6.00 for children age 10 and under, and carry-outs will be available. St. Mark is located at 1861 Missouri State Rd., just east of the Arnold Recreation Center.

October 12, CROP Walk, 12:30 pm

 

The 2014 Metro St. Louis CROP Hunger Walk will be held on Sunday, October 12 at Eden Theological Seminary in Webster Groves, 475 E. Lockwood Ave.  63119 - registration at 12:30 p. m. and step-off at 1:30.  CROP is the hunger-fighting wing of Church World Service, which represents 37 Protestant and Orthodox denominations.  75% of the funds raised will go to international efforts to combat hunger and poverty, and 25% of funds raised stay in the St. Louis area to support Operation Food Search, Feed My People, and Webster-Rock Hill Ministries.  If you have questions or would like to receive CROP Hunger Walk materials, please contact Clint McCann

October 12, 9th Annual Sausage/Roast Beef Supper, 11am-6pm

Please join us for our 9th Annual Sausage Supper & Roast Beef too, on Sunday, October 12, 11am-6pm, in New Fellowship Hall at St. John UCC, 405 S Fifth St, Saint Charles. October 15, Ladies Aid Luncheon and Fall Market, Noon

Due to the poor vendor commitment, the ECH Ladies Aid has cancelled the 3 Annual Quarter Auction previously scheduled for September 13, 2014 in the ECH Gym.Instead we will hold a Luncheon and Fall Market at St. Lucas United Church of Christ, 11735 Denny Road, St. Louis, Missouri 63126. The event will be October 15, 2014 at noon. Cost will be $10 per person. All is invited and welcome.

 

Come join us for good fellowship, good food and a head start on your holiday shopping, while supporting ECH and learning more about the young people served by this worthy agency. Missouri Health Care for All and Deaconess Faith Community Nurse Ministries invites you to lunch and conversation about how people of faith can help in the effort to expand Medicaid in the state of Missouri. October 18, 25th Annual Oktoberfest, 3-8pm

 

The 25th Annual Oktoberfest at Valley Center UCC in rural Deepwater, MO.  We will be serving Brauts (hand made by members of our congregation -1200 pounds worth!), German Potato Salad, Kraut, Smoked Turkey, Chicken and Noodles and other goodies including homemade breads and desserts. There will be a Bazaar featuring crafts and baked goods.  Live Music will also be provided by members of other churches in our community.  

 

This event benefits the food pantries in both St. Clair and Henry County, and over the past 3 years we have been able to donate over 2 tons of food from this event.  As this is our 25th year, we set a goal in January to donate 2500 pounds of food in 2014. We have had "mini" food drives throughout the year and as of September 1, our congregation has donated nearly 2300 pounds of food.  

Our guests can receive $1 off the purchase of their meal by bringing a non-perishable food item and we will also accept cash donations for the food pantries.  We also contribute a portion of our proceeds to the pantries as well.  Event flyer

October 18, Festival of Sharing Rainbow Bike Ride


Festival of Sharing is hosting a bike ride fundraiser to support The Rainbow Network. http://www.rainbownetwork.org/ All riders will depart the fairgrounds at 10:30 am (after worship). Options to ride are 20 miles ~ Green Ridge, 50 miles ~ Calhoun and 70 miles ~ Clinton. There will be hospitality teams at the turn around points on the ride. Registration is $30 with the goal for each rider to raise $360 to provide a full year scholarship for a student in rural Nicaragua. Riders should raise the $360 through private fundraisers prior to the ride. Soon there will be a website for this event where donations can be made on line. If you do not have a bike but want to participate bike rentals will be available from Champion Bicycle Shop at the Katy Depot in Sedalia. Registration forms / links will be available soon. October 19, Opening the Doors to Spirituality, 2-4pm

On October 19, 2014 NAMI St. Louis will host "Opening the Doors To Spirituality" for persons with a mental illness, their loved ones and a cross-section of spiritual leaders throughout the St. Louis area. It will be held at Central Reform Congregation, 5020 Waterman (at Kingshighway) from 2:00-4:00 pm. Registration is free of charge.

October 25-26, CUCC Mizzou Homecoming

The Graduates, the college aged group of Columbia United Church of Christ are having a reunion this year during Mizzou's Homecoming weekend, October 25 and 26. This gathering is for everyone participating in the group over the years.

Sunday, October 26: The Graduates group will recognized during Worship after Rev. Dr Jerry Jordan, former pastor, preaches. Rev. Fred Brandenberg, former pastor, plans to attend. At the conclusion of worship, members of the Graduate reunion will gather on the lower level of CUCC for pizza, soda, and fellowship.Pictures and homemade cookies are most welcome!

October 26, Forum on Marriage Equality, 3pm

Because of the historic significance of a lawsuit brought by a mainline denomination against a State, the Missouri Mid-South Conference, the Illinois South Conference and The First Congregational Church of St. Louis have invited Mr. Donald C. Clark, Jr., General Counsel of the United Church of Christ, to be in St. Louis on Sunday afternoon, October 26, 2014. Mr. Clark will present additional information, perspective and analysis regarding the lawsuit and answer questions. The forum will take place in the sanctuary of The First Congregational Church of St. Louis, beginning at 3pm and conclude no later than 5pm, with a reception following in the church's fellowship hall. October 26, Trunk 'R Treat, 3pm

November 1, Annual Holiday Bazaar, 8:30am-2:30pm

St. John's Chapel, United Church of Christ, 4344 S. Fremont, Springfield, Mo. will be having their annual Holiday Bazaar, Saturday, Nov. 1st,  8:30am to 2:30pm.  This has been occuring for over 25 years.  Lots of vendors,  our circle sells cookbooks, baked good, and will have a treasure table with lots of good items.  A very good lunch of soup, sandwiches, dessert and drink will be served 11:00am to 1:30pm  We will also have a free showing of a Native American collection.

November 7-8, Cabaret Night, 8pm

On Friday, November 7 and Saturday, November 8, at 8:00 p.m., St. John UCC, 405 S Fifth Street, Saint Charles, will be hosting a Cabaret Night featuring Performing Arts Camp performers. Tickets are $25 each, which includes appetizers and two drinks. This is for adults only, 21 and up. Tickets must be purchased in advance, no holding tickets. November 8, Art & Soul Event, 6:30pm 

Now in its 4th year, Art & Soul is a celebration of Neighborhood Houses and how art reaches across boundaries such as poverty and challenging urban neighborhoods to help strengthen children and youth. The event will feature unique works of art in many forms, done by artists of all ages. November 15, 5th Anniversary Taste of Home Cooking School, 9am

  

Emmaus Homes will be hosting the 5th Anniversary Taste of Home Cooking School at First Christian Church in Washington, MO. The show will feature the popular vendor fair again this year with more than 30 local vendors selling a variety of items including holiday decorations, food, jewelry, and more. The 2-hour Cooking School will be taught by Taste of Home culinary specialist Karen Davis and will feature 10 new irresistible fall recipes. Sixth Annual Tannenbaum Auction and Celebration to be held November 19-20 with 100%

of the proceeds to benefit The Friends of Emmaus organization.  The Event will be held

November 21-22, Conference Middle School Event

The Conference Middle School Event will be held November 21st - 22nd at Camp MoVal.  All youth in grades 6th - 8th are invited to attend this awesome retreat along with their adult youth leaders.  The fun will start on Friday evening at 7 pm and we will conclude the retreat at 5 pm on Saturday. 

Sheltered Reality will be our special guests on Saturday to not only share their music and message with us, but to teach us how to create music together.  We will also have plenty of time to enjoy the fun activities of Camp MoVal.

Support Staff Network Gathering To Be Held In Ft. Wayne In 2015.  Support staff members (administrative assistants, secretaries, office managers, bookkeepers, etc.) from all settings of the United Church of Christ are strongly encouraged to join the United Church of Christ Office Support Staff Network (UCCOSSN) at their 2015 Annual Conference to be held in Ft.
