May 8, Screening of "God Loves Uganda", 7 pm 

 

Eden Theological Seminary will host a screening of the GOD LOVES UGANDA on Thursday, May 8 at 7:00 pm in Wehrli Chapel. The event is co-sponsored by Eden student groups Common Ground and the Social Justice Council. All members of the Eden Community as well as friends of Eden from local churches are invited to attend this free event.  Event flyer.

May 8, Book Signing/Celebration for Dr. Laurel Koepf Taylor, 4:30 - 6:30 pm

 

Eden Theological Seminary is hosting a book signing to celebrate with Rev. Dr. Laurel Koepf Taylor, Assistant Professor of Old Testament, whose first book, "Give Me Children or I Shall Die: Children and Communal Survival in Biblical Literature" was published in November 2013 by Augsburg Fortress. Please join us on Thursday, May 8 from 4:30 to 6:00 pm in Schroer Commons as the Eden community gathers to congratulate Dr. Taylor on this accomplishment!

 

Dr. Taylor joined the Eden faculty in the fall of 2012 as Assistant Professor of Old Testament. "Give Me Children or I Shall Die: Children and Communal Survival in Biblical Literature" is based on her PhD dissertation completed under the direction of David M. Carr at Union Theological Seminary.

May 9, IPM's 40th Anniversary Concert Celebration, 6 pm  

 

Come celebrate International Partners in Mission's 40th Anniversary with us in the city where it all began!  IPM was founded in St Louis in 1974, and after 40 years, we are still going strong, taking part in the transformation of thousands of lives every year.  Come be a part of the celebration of our rich history, and become a part of our future.  The celebration will consist of a concert from Peter Mayer, and special guests Jim Mayer, and Brendan Mayer.  There will be a reception to follow the concert. 

 

Doors at 6, Concert begins at 7, with a reception to follow. May 10, Luncheon With a Mission, 11 am


Zion UCC (Troy) is hosting a "Luncheon With a Mission" on Saturday, May 10, at 11:00am.  Ann Hazelwood will offer a program titled, "Aprons, the Tie That Binds," and a delicious meal will be served!  All are encouraged to bring their favorite apron to the event!  Tickets are $10, and all proceeds will be divided between Our Church's Wider Mission and our local Bread For Life Food Pantry.  To reserve your tickets or for more information: 636-528-7550. May 10, eCycling Event, 9 am - Noon
 

Peace UCC (204 E. Lockwood Ave, Webster Groves, MO 63119) will host a E-Cycling event. On that day a truck from E-Cycle Missouri will be stationed on the lower parking lot at Peace from 9am-noon. The E-Cycle truck will accept electronic items for recycling thus prevent heavy metals and other toxic materials from ending up in a landfill and polluting our environment.

May 14, Sacred Conversation/Boundary Training with Dr. Marie Fortune, 8 am - 4 pm 

 

We are excited to welcome Dr. Marie Fortune to St. Louis for our next Sacred Conversation.  Dr. Fortune has dedicate her career to developing and teaching sexual ethics and boundary training for clergy and ministry leaders, and most developed trainings are fashioned on her work.  It is a rare opportunity to learn from her!

May 17, Outdoor Ministry Night, 6:30 pm 

 

Peace United Church of Christ (204 East Lockwood Ave, Webster Groves, MO 63119) is hosting an Outdoor Ministry Night with guest Jeremy Force of Camp MoVal. Festivities include a hotdog supper, vespers service, and a camp fire sing along with fair-trade chocolate s'mores. Meal tickets are $5.00 and a collection for Camp MoVal will be taken during the service. Happy campers are welcome to bring a  tent and camp out on the lawn at Peace UCC. May 18, Ivy Chapel 50th Anniversary Celebration, 10 am 

 

May 13, 1964 is the official birth date of Ivy Chapel United Church of Christ. We will celebrate the 50anniversary of this milestone on Sun., May 18. Our Acting Missouri Mid-South Conference Minister, Rev. Dr. Allen Fluent, will preach. Other special guests invited to share in the occasion include: Rev. Dennis Lindberg, Rev. Pat Vollertsen, Rev. Laura Mignerone, and Rev. Howard Self.

May 18, Philippine Disaster Relief Event, 6:00 pm  

  

Immanuel United Church of Christ, 221 Church Street invites you to a special event in their Fellowship Hall to benefit the Philippine Disaster Relief Fund.   We are fully aware that parts of the Philippine Islands where devastated by a powerful typhoon and that recovering and rebuilding after such an event will take time and money.We will experience Philippine Food Tasting, Ron Caguin, a member of Immanuel who is of Philippine descent, will teach us a few words of the Philippine language, we will view pictures and hear presentations from Pastor Karen Aitkens (former Associate Pastor at Immanuel) and Bill Wooten (an Immanuel member) about their experiences while traveling in the Philippine Islands.  We will have Philippine music and possibly Philippine dancing.  Event is free and open to all.

Friends of Emmaus Festival and Quilt Auction.  Emmaus Homes in Marthasville, MO will hold their Spring Festival.  40 years as a Fall Bazaar : now the third year as an "Ole Time Country Family Picnic" and famous Quilt Auction on SUNDAY MAY 18 2014 from noon to 5:00 p.m. Dinner served from noon to 4:00.   Outdoor food venders. July 10-13, Great Lakes Regional Youth Event  

 

Great Lakes Regional Youth Event - July 10-13th Sheboygan, Wisconsin.  Every four years, hundreds of United Church of Christ youth from around the Great Lakes gather for spirited worship, awesome fun and games, and engaging service projects.  It's a time for deepening faith, getting excited about God's calling on each person, and forming life-changing friendships.  In 2014 we'll be at Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wisconsin!

The United Church of Christ Musicians National Network (UCCMNN) is pleased to announce their 2014 conference, "Make a Joyful Noise" featuring John Bell and Ruth Elaine Schram at Congregational United Church of Christ in Greensboro, North Carolina from July 10-13, 2014.

July 20-26, IPM Camp Experience at MoVal

 

Crossing Borders: An International Partners in Mission Camp Experience at Camp MoVal.  Youth, come get a glimpse of the IPM Immersion Experience at camp this summer!  IPM will be hosting a camp experience for youth ages 12-14 at Camp MoVal in Union, Missouri, which lies about an hour southwest of St Louis.  The camp will be held July 20-26.  Youth will have the opportunity to learn in an experiential way about some of IPM's Project Partners from around the globe, their work and daily lives in their parts of the world, and about the interconnectedness of the human family across all boundaries, all while playing and experiencing the great outdoors!  The cost is $425 for the week.  For more information, or registration materials, please contact Eric Moeller at emoeller@ipmconnect.org, or 314-252-8489

July 27-August 1, Christian Native Craft Workshop at Shannondale

 

Now in its 40th year, this exciting event offer hands-on folk art, craft experiences, and demonstrations in a family- oriented setting.  The workshop has given hundreds of persons, young and old, a chance to learn talents in an  Ozark forest setting and take home beautifully handcrafted items. Classes are held at Shannondale Community Center's Timber Lodge, our very own UCC haven. The workshop will be held on July 27 - August 1, 2014 - be sure to register soon. Fulton UCC is celebrating their 125 anniversary this coming August. While still in the planning stages, they want you to save the date.  Check out their website for future info on the anniversary celebration, and you can also find them on Facebook.

October 18, Festival of Sharing Rainbow Bike Ride

Festival of Sharing is hosting a bike ride fundraiser to support The Rainbow Network. http://www.rainbownetwork.org/ All riders will depart the fairgrounds at 10:30 am (after worship). Options to ride are 20 miles ~ Green Ridge, 50 miles ~ Calhoun and 70 miles ~ Clinton. There will be hospitality teams at the turn around points on the ride. Registration is $30 with the goal for each rider to raise $360 to provide a full year scholarship for a student in rural Nicaragua. Riders should raise the $360 through private fundraisers prior to the ride. Soon there will be a website for this event where donations can be made on line. If you do not have a bike but want to participate bike rentals will be available from Champion Bicycle Shop at the Katy Depot in Sedalia. Registration forms / links will be available soon.
