March 28 & April 11, Fish Dinner, 4 - 7 pm*

 

St. Johns Evangelical UCC is having a fish dinner with fried jack salmon, fried/baked cod, shrimp, frog legs, cheese pizza and several sides.  Adult meals are $9, Children 12 and under meals are $5.  Dine in or carry out.  314-892-0848.  Event flyer.

March 30, Issues of Life and Death, 10:45 - 11:45 am 

 

The Adult Education series in January, 2014 addressed Issues of Life and Death from the perspective of faith and community, but the first session was missed when KUCC worship was cancelled on January 5 due to extreme weather conditions.  On March 30 we have re-scheduled that first speaker, Dr. John Buettner, Medical Director of Clinical Ethics at St. Luke's Hospital, who will address with us healthcare "hard choices" and difficult end-of-life decisions.  10:45 - 11:45 am.  Kirkwood United Church of Christ, 1603 Dougherty Ferry Rd., 63122.  314-822-2240.

April 2, 9 &16, Lenten Services, 1:30 pm*  

 

Immanuel UCC of Ferguson will have a 1:30 pm Lenten Service each Wednesday during Lent in our Chapel, at 221 Church Street in Ferguson.  All are welcome to join us as we begin our journey to the cross.  We are handicapped accessible.

April 2 & 9, Lenten Series, 6 pm* 

 

Encounter scripture in new and refreshing ways with a curriculum designed to reinvigorate and deepen your understanding of the Bible.  Enlightening videos and fascinating conversation led by the pastoral staff of Peace UCC, First Congregational of WG UCC, and Sts. Clare and Francis Ecumenical Catholic Community.  Held at First Congo in Webster Groves with a simple supper at 6pm.  Event flyer.

April 5, Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, 9am - 11am 

 

Calvary United Church of Christ, 2501 Hartland Avenue, will hold its annual Breakfast with the Easter Bunny on Saturday, April 5th from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.  The $3.00 per person cost includes breakfast, crafts, and an Easter egg hunt on the church grounds.  With questions or to register call 314-429-7464.

April 5, Rummage Sale, 8 am - Noon

 

The youth of Ivy Chapel UCC are organizing the annual Ivy Chapel Rummage Sale, Sat. April 5 from 8 a.m. to noon. If you have things to donate, please bring them to church AFTER worship on Sunday, March 30 and put them in the cloakroom. Proceeds will be used to help the youth with the expenses of their summer mission trips, as well as supporting the child we adopt through World Vision, and other youth projects.  Help our youth help others!   Event flyer.

A blending of jazz improvisation, storytelling, the arts, and meditation.  An imaginative space to explore the inner landscape of the soul.  An invitation to celebrate the unity of our global village. An hour's respite from the fast pace of life.  Inner Jazz is a monthly soulful inner journey led by Rev. Cliff Aerie, director of MICA (Ministry of Imagination, Creativity and the Arts)and Rev. April 17 & 18, Maundy Thursday & Good Friday Services, 10:15 am

St. Paul UCC, 3510 Giles Avenue will have a morning service at 10:15 a.m. on Maundy Thursday, April 17 and on Good Friday, April 18.  These services are geared for those who prefer not to drive or travel at night, but still want to worship and participate in service.

April 17, A Labyrinth of Faith, 7 pm
 

As Jesus journeys to the cross, we too are on a Lenten journey. Symbolic of our own faith walk, a labyrinth is not like a maze; it has only one path in and one path out - there are no dead ends or false paths. This imagery will guide our Maundy Thursday prayer path and unique worship experience as we incorporate healing prayer, Holy Communion, symbolic washing of hands/feet, the releasing of hurts and betrayals, and the hope of new life. April 18, Good Friday Cantata, 7 pm

 

Join Immanuel UCC in Ferguson for our Easter Contata. "Colors of Grace" by Joseph Martin performed by out Sanctuary Choir directed by Carolyn Rock, Minister of Music.  We will have childcare and children's activities in our education building for this service.  All are welcome to join us.  We are handicapped accessible.

April 18, Good Friday Cantata-The Weeping Tree, 7pm

St. John UCC, 405 S Fifth Street, St. Charles, Music Ministry presents The Weeping Tree, a Good Friday Cantata with Chancel Choir, soloists, and orchestra, April 18, at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Outside a city wall stands the weeping tree... in her crooked and twisted arms she cradled Jesus, the Hope of the world. She who was cut and fashioned by hatred and violence became a tree of life for the world. Her arms are outstretched still.

April 22, MMS Conference Open House, 8:30 am - 5 pm

If you are planning to attend Eden Seminary's Convocation, be sure to stop by your MMS Conference office on Tuesday, April 22 and visit us during our Open House!  Our office is conveniently located on the campus of Eden Seminary - lower level of Schultz Hall, 483 E. Lockwood Avenue, Suite 15. 

We'll have snacks, soft drinks and plenty of smiles to greet you upon your arrival.  It's been 3 years since we moved from the "white house" to our new and ever-so-lovely digs in Schultz Hall, so it's the perfect time to take a quick tour if you've never visited us before.  We hope to see many familiar faces and also meet some new friends, too.  Several members of our Conference staff - Allen, Jan, Renee, Lorraine and Colleen - will all be here to greet you.  So join us for a glass of punch and allow us the opportunity to tell you how much YOU are appreciated as a member of our Missouri Mid-South Conference!!!

May 18, Friends of Emmaus Festival and Quilt Auction, Noon - 5 pm

Friends of Emmaus Festival and Quilt Auction.  Emmaus Homes in Marthasville, MO will hold their Spring Festival.  40 years as a Fall Bazaar : now the third year as an "Ole Time Country Family Picnic" and famous Quilt Auction on SUNDAY MAY 18 2014 from noon to 5:00 p.m. Dinner served from noon to 4:00.   Outdoor food venders. July 27 - August 1, Christian Native Craft Workshop at Shannondale*

 

Now in its 40th year, this exciting event offer hands-on folk art, craft experiences, and demonstrations in a family- oriented setting.  The workshop has given hundreds of persons, young and old, a chance to learn talents in an  Ozark forest setting and take home beautifully handcrafted items. Classes are held at Shannondale Community Center's Timber Lodge, our very own UCC haven. The workshop will be held on July 27 - August 1, 2014 - be sure to register soon.

October 18, Festival of Sharing Rainbow Bike Ride

Festival of Sharing is hosting a bike ride fundraiser to support The Rainbow Network. http://www.rainbownetwork.org/ All riders will depart the fairgrounds at 10:30 am (after worship). Options to ride are 20 miles ~ Green Ridge, 50 miles ~ Calhoun and 70 miles ~ Clinton. There will be hospitality teams at the turn around points on the ride. Registration is $30 with the goal for each rider to raise $360 to provide a full year scholarship for a student in rural Nicaragua. Riders should raise the $360 through private fundraisers prior to the ride. Soon there will be a website for this event where donations can be made on line. If you do not have a bike but want to participate bike rentals will be available from Champion Bicycle Shop at the Katy Depot in Sedalia. Registration forms / links will be available soon.
