On God's Side:What Religion Forgets and Politics Hasn't Learned About Serving the Common Good examines the deepest problems this world faces.What we need is a commitment to an ancient idea whose time has urgently come,the common good.How do we work together,even with people we don't agree with? Samuel UCC, Clayton will have a large assortment of best-selling fiction and non-fiction books for sale, including biography, history, art, cookbooks, sports, DIY, self-help, travel,religion, spirituality, and paperback fiction. Special section for children and youth titles. Plus collectibles, DVDs, CDs and more!    

 

Saturday, September 28, 8 am-4 pm and Sunday, September 29, Noon-4pm.  On Sunday afternoon everything is half price - fill up a bag with books for $5.Coffee and Homemade goodies available all day!

October 4, Concert to Benefit Voices for Children, 7:30 pm 

 

Peace United Church of Christ, 204 East Lockwood Avenue, Webster Groves, MO 63119 is holding a Benefit Concert for Voices for Children. The evening will feature Stephanie Sant'Ambrogio, violin, and Peter Miyamoto, piano, in concert with works by JS Bach, Brahms, R. Strauss and more. October 5, Trivia Night, 6 pm

 

At Mount Tabor UCC, 6520 Arsenal St., St. Louis, 63139, doors open at 6 p.m., trivia begins at 7 p.m., $20 per person or $150 per table of 8.  Door prizes, raffles, 50/50 drawings, mulligans and silent auction.  Beer, soda, pretzels and popcorn provided.  Feel free to bring additional snacks or drinks for your table.  Proceeds go to sending youth to church camp and to a food pantry in the city.  For reservations call, 314-645-9025.

October 5, 30th Annual Fall Festival, 2 - 8 pm

St Martin's UCC, 7890 Dittmer Ridge Rd, Dittmer, are very excited to celebrate our 30 Annual Fall Festival, a fun filled day for the entire family! FREE children's activities - games, horse drawn wagon rides, CHFPD Safe House; Snack Shack will offer popcorn, cotton candy, hot chocolate and hot apple cider for free will offerings. The Country Store will have our famous homemade Apple Butter, German Potato Salad Sauce and a variety of homemade goodies. Fried Chicken or Ham Dinners are served from 2-7 pm - Adults $10 / Kids 4-11 $4 / 3 & under are free. We offer both indoor and outdoor seating, carry-outs and dining is handicap accessible. Bluegrass and Gospel music will fill the afternoon. NEW this year racing enthusiasts will be able to visit with a driver from Kenny Schrader Racing as well as get an up close look at a racecar. And visitors 21 and over can visit "The Cellar" as they learn the art of wine making, the story of how wine relates to the Bible, how grapes are chosen, and also be offered tastings from the Old Farm Vinyard that is owned / operated by STM members Steve & Darlene Strupp. We plan to end the evening with fireworks and hope everyone joins us! October 12, Being a Blessing Concert, 7 pm 

 

Ivy Chapel will present an evening concert on Saturday, October 12th at 7 PM.   The program "Being a Blessing" will be a spiritual journey of faith and reflection featuring the original music of Susan Drake and Julie Jennings, both ordained ministers in the United Church of Christ.  The public is invited to attend.  A freewill offering will be accepted.  Ivy Chapel UCC is located at 620 N. You are invited to the 8th Annual Sausage Supper at St. John United Church of Christ, 405 S Fifth Street, St. Charles on Sunday, October 13, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in New Fellowship Hall.  Tickets are $9.00 for adults, and $5.00 for children 6 to 12 years old, children under 5 years in age are free, and can be purchased by calling the church office  (636) 946-0961 or email friends@stjohnucc.org.  We will also be having a quilt raffle for a Dresden Plate Quilt.  Tickets are $1.00 each or 6 tickets for $5.00. October 13, Metro St. Louis CROP Hunger Walk, 12:30 pm

 

SAVE THE DATE: The 2013 CROP Hunger Walk will be held on Sunday, October 13 at Eden Seminary, 475 E. Lockwood Ave., Webster Groves  63119.  Registration begins at 12:30 p. m.  A brief program and the "step-off" will be at 1:30.  Unlike the past several years, there is only one CROP Walk this year in the St. Louis area; and all walkers will begin at the same time, in order to represent our solidarity with one another as well as with the hungry of our community and the world.  On Sunday, September 15, 1:30 to 3:30 p. m., there is a Pick-Up-Materials Rally at Eden Seminary.  Sponsor envelopes, bulletin inserts, posters, etc. will be available at that time.  Questions?  Contact Clint McCann at cmccann@eden.edu or 314-395-5826, or Kari Davidson at 314-252-3298.
