State of the Program

Dear Friends,

Fall is here and that means courts in Uganda are officially back open after the summer break! Court in Kampala has already started hearing cases. We hear that the judges in Kampala have been favorably ruling on international adoption cases, so we are relieved!

The judge in Fort Portal has not yet started hearing cases. We are anxious to see how it goes with the new judge out there! We have one family anxiously waiting for a court date in Fort Portal so we are all thinking good thoughts for them.

Uganda is making it more difficult than ever to take more than one long trip. If you have been considering two trips and want to talk about changes happening in Uganda that might affect this, please send me an email.

We still have several amazing kids who need families - several older HIV+ children are waiting (ages 6 to 14 years) as well as several younger children with cerebral palsy. Check out their photos on our Waiting Child page!

AAI's Uganda program has seven families currently in the process of adopting 10 children. We also have two families hoping to adopt two waiting children. We aren't a big program but we find families for some of the most vulnerable children in Uganda, and I'm proud of what we've accomplished so far. We are all excited to see the kids that come home in the next year! Thank you for helping make this such a great program and providing families for these amazing kids.

Sincerely,

Salem Richards
