State of the Program

Dear Friends,

We hope you're having a fantastic summer! The weather here in Port Angeles has been warm, sunny, and pleasant. This program continues to do very well. We've had several families recently take placements and many other families have received their foster licenses.

We receive numerous emails each day from state workers with requests for families for children. Many of the children we receive information on are sibling groups while most of our families on our waiting list only want a single child. If you are licensed for only one child and would like to be considered for a sibling group, please contact Yvette to talk about amending your foster license.

As always, we're here to help! Please feel free to contact Yvette Nichols, Gay Knutson, or Kathy Sculley with any questions or concerns you have about our program.

Sincerely,

AAI Foster/Adopt Staff

Private Adoptions

If you are on our waiting list for an infant or toddler and have considered doing a private adoption, you may want to check out Abby's One True Gift. This organization works with birth parents who want to find adoptive homes for their newborns.

You can be added to their list of available families at no charge by completing their application and submitting your homestudy. However, there will be additional fees if you are selected as a prospective adoptive family. Fees for private adoptions typically average $30,000, so this option is not for everyone.

If you are interested or have questions, please contact the agency's administrator Alicia Daniels.

Kitsap County Support Group
Jessica Cain is the biological child of parents who have adopted several children through AAI. She is interested in connecting with adoptive families and their children in Kitsap County to start a support group. She has a passion for teaching and educating parents about adoption and she especially wants to connect with the biological children in adoptive families.

If you are interested in getting more information about this new group, you can contact Jessica by email or phone at 360-649-6853.
