UNITED WAY OF MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF DIRECTORS
ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Tannersville - The United Way of Monroe County (UWMC) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Albert as the organization's new Executive Director, effective Wednesday, May 6, 2015.

Michael comes to the UWMC with over ten years of senior management experience in the community services sector - much of which was implemented in the education and health sectors in countries around the world, including Bangladesh, Mali, Malaysia, Liberia, Haiti and Thailand.

Michael most recently served as the Director of Foundations and Public Partnerships for Right To Play (www.righttoplay.com) - an international not-for-profit organization using sports and play to educate and empower children facing adversity. Michael was promoted several times since starting with the organization in 2007. In his most recent role, Michael was responsible for leading fundraising efforts targeting foundations and public partners in the organization's New York City office, which raises over $4 million annually to support programs domestically and abroad.

"The international work I have been doing has been meaningful; however, after a decade of leading community service efforts abroad, I have been actively seeking ways to help address some of the challenges facing our own community here in Monroe County," said Albert. "The United Way is a fantastic organization that achieves concrete and measurable outcomes through coordinated efforts among community members. I could not be more honored or excited about taking on this important role in the community."

"We are absolutely thrilled that Michael is going to be leading the UWMC team. Michael brings a fresh and energized perspective to service efforts in the area and is incredibly passionate about helping Monroe County develop into its full potential," stated Pam Watkins, Director, Internal Audit & Corporate Compliance at Pocono Health System and current Chair of the Board of Directors at UWMC.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada and a Master of Philosophy in International Community Health from the University of Oslo in Norway. Michael is an active member of the community. In his spare time, he sits on the Smithfield Township Planning Commission, teaches as an adjunct professor at East Stroudsburg University, and sits on the Board of Directors for several local and national not-for-profit organizations - in addition to maintaining an active family life. Michael lives with his wife, Amy Kirkwood Albert, and their three children in Shawnee on Delaware, PA.
