WHY AREA BUSINESSES PARTNER WITH
UNITED WAY OF MONROE COUNTY
Tannersville - Why do area businesses choose to partner with the United Way of Monroe County to help meet their philanthropic goals?

Money raised here, stays here - to help local residents in need of a hand up, not a hand out.  When you give to United Way of Monroe County, your donation makes a direct impact on the community and gets results by being directed to the most effective programs.

Each year, United Way partner agencies apply for program funding; their applications and outcomes are reviewed and sites are visited by community volunteers who then make funding decisions based on community needs.
There are many ways for a business to get involved and give back.
  • For instance, a workplace campaign, where a business allows its staff to donate to the United Way campaign, often through payroll deduction. This process can include fun, morale-building "fun"raisers and provide staff with an easy way to give back to the community; the business can also contribute a corporate gift or encourage employee contributions by offering a company match of their donations.
  • A business can sponsor an event, in order to maximize the visibility of the business' partnership with United Way and capitalize on co-branding opportunities with the area's leading non-profit. A prime example: United Way is holding the 4th Annual Dario Belardi Memorial Golf Tournament at Hideaway Hills Golf Club on Wednesday, July 22nd and has opened up registration and sponsorship opportunities (www.unitedwaymonroe.org/golf).
  • A business can provide an in-kind donation, which is the gift of a product or service - by the way United Way is looking for raffle prizes for the golf tournament - or
  • A business can hold a special event that can include your customers. This shows customers that your business cares about your community. Last year, Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort held their 3rd Cupcake Challenge, which brought the largest number of vendors thus far, with proceeds collected to assist the United Way and the local partner agencies it supports.   The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort's 4th Cupcake Challenge will be held on September 20, 2015.
Encouraging volunteerism also shows your staff and the community that you care. Volunteering as a team can build teamwork and camaraderie among staff members, as crews from area businesses like Sanofi Pasteur, Weiler, Target and East Stroudsburg University discover when they participate in the county-wide Day of Caring, where local businesses allow their staff to work either a half-day or full-day at a local non-profit.  Day of Caring will be September 17, 2015.
United Way recognizes participating businesses in its newsletters, media releases, in social media and on its website.  To get more information on how to hold a workplace campaign, sponsor or hold an event, donate a raffle prize or volunteer to help those in need in our community, visit www.unitedwaymonroe.org, email [email protected], or call the United Way of Monroe County at 570-629-5657.
