Awareness Month
- A Personal Story

Do you have a family member or friend who has breast cancer or needs any kind of surgery? Do you wonder how you can help?

This story of my client might help.
She is a wonderful young women and was 2 month ago diagnosed with breast cancer and scheduled for a mastectomy. This alone is a traumatic event for the body with all that it entails,  both physically and emotionally. This diagnosis causes grief as a natural response and on top of it, the fear about the surgery and all the unknown possibilities that might occur.

We scheduled 3 appointments to help prepare her for the surgery. The goal was to help assuage the fear and  provide emotional stability. In times like these;  energy work can provide a deeper support than massage. I performed two  Healing Touch treatments and the morning before the surgery a Mind-Body Acupressure treatment.
My client was feeling fear and deep sadness before the 3 treatments. After the 3rd treatment she said: "I am so calm! And I feel that I am ready for surgery tomorrow."
It was great seeing her smiling and almost glowing with strength as she was still sitting on my massage table. Now the surgery is done and luckily, she does not need any additional cancer treatments.

Our work together  however, does not end there. Like any client should receive after surgery; she will receive Healing Touch treatments to reduce pain and help process everything that has happened.

Later,  once the healing has progressed, I will work with Myofascial Release techniques on the scars. This treatment breaks up scar tissue and helps make the tissue smoother and less visible.
In addition I will use the same modality to release inner restrictions of the connective tissue. For the future, I look forward to supporting her with a sports massage as preparation for her next marathon!
It is an honor to support this wonderful women in her healing process, on her Path to Wellness!

This help is available for anyone who faces surgery. If you know someone who needs support before/after surgery, please, forward/share this information. We all need this type of help at some point.  I am happy to answer questions and/or schedule an appointment. Please, call me ... 484-354-8303

Bodymind Acupressure
is based on gentle yet deep finger pressure on specific acu-points and verbal Body Focusing techniques, to help release "armoring" or chronic tension, balance the "Qi" or energy, of the body and improve vitality. This clothes-on method helps relieve stress and trauma related problems.

A unique synthesis of a traditional Japanese acupressure technique, classic Chinese acupuncture and acupressure theory, Taoist philosophy, Qigong (breathing and exercise techniques), Reichian segmental theory and principles of Ericksonian psychotherapy, it is recognized as a major form of Asian Bodywork Therapy (by NCCAOM
& AOBTAamong others).  The Bodymind Acupressure promotes a pleasant trancelike state, in which one can relax and move out of the head and into the body, accessing feelings and inner wisdom.
