Immediate Release

KY 16 (Pride Parkway) - Bridge Now Open

______________________________________________________________________

TAYLOR MILL, KY - December 31, 2014

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet opened a portion of the new KY16 (Pride Parkway) Bridge this afternoon (Wednesday, December 31, 2014) at approximately 2 pm.

The new bridge connects traffic to the North and South end of the KY 16 (Pride Parkway) Reconstruction Project, which means vehicular traffic will no longer be required to divert through a section of existing Old Taylor Mill Road.

Vehicular traffic will temporarily be able to cross the bridge via one lane of travel in each direction, along with the following traffic controls:

  • The Northern Intersection of Pride Parkway intersecting with Taylor Creek Drive and Old Taylor Mill Road will temporarily be controlled with a 4-way stop.
  • The Southern Intersection of Pride Parkway intersecting with Old Taylor Mill Road will be temporarily controlled with a 3-way stop.
  • Blackstone Court and Robertson Road will NOT have access to the new road alignment at this time.
  • Traffic will continue to proceed with one lane of travel in each direction on the new pavement between Sunbrite Drive and Old Taylor Mill Road.

It is important for motorists to use caution when traveling in the area and watch for signage and changes to traffic control devices.  Pedestrians in the area of the bridge are temporarily discouraged until all sidewalk construction has been completed.

Please also note that inclement winter weather may cause bridges and overpasses to become icy and slippery from time to time.  Please remember to consistently drive safely and evaluate your surroundings.

The project in its entirety is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2015.
