Gordon Johnson Award
The Gordon L. Johnson Distinguished Public Servant Award is awarded annually by the Taylor Mill City Commission to an individual who exemplifies the lifestyle of a dedicated public servant in multiple capacities.
This year it was an honor and privilege to recognize former Commissioner Bob Haake for his unwavering commitment to the Taylor Mill Community.
Mr. Haake served for many years as an elected official, volunteered both during and after his term of office for the Taylor Mill Recreation Committee, and went on to serve as a representative on the K.C. Joint Code Enforcement Board until he recently moved from the Taylor Mill Community. Additionally, he remains active in his church in a variety of capacities.
Congratulations and thank you Mr. Haake for your many years of dedication to the citizens of Taylor Mill.

Greetings!
I hope you were able to join us for Park Fest 2014. It was a spectacular event that was filled with lots of great moments shared with family and friends. The weather couldn't have been better and the music, food, rides, shows, shopping, socializing, and fireworks made for lasting memories.
A special thank you to everyone who visited and to those who dedicated their time and talents to this event. We appreciate all of our vendors and especially all of our volunteers and staff who worked so diligently to make it all run so smoothly. We couldn't be more grateful for all your assistance!
Mark your calendars now for Park Fest 2015 on Saturday, September 12. Preparations are already underway for another great time next year!
In other news, I would like to take a few minutes in each of my coming newsletters to identify some of the boards and committees that myself, the Taylor Mill City Commissioners and our Staff serve on as representatives of the Taylor Mill Community. It is vital that we be represented in all areas of State and Local Government.
This newsletter I'd like to kick off by spotlighting our affiliation with the Kentucky League of Cities (KLC). Currently, as Mayor I serve on the KLC Board of Directors.
What is KLC? The KLC Mission is simple - To serve as the united voice of cities by supporting community innovation, effective leadership and quality governance. They also serve as our main legislative lobby in Frankfort and Washington.
KLC's Core Values serve as the cultural foundation of the organization. They embody the spirit and collective conscious of KLC and its employees. These core values describe how KLC fulfills their mission by representing the enduring ideals and principles that guide all of our actions.
I'm proud to serve along side many honorable and respected city leaders across the commonwealth as part of this great organization.
Continue to stay in touch with us via our social media sites, our website, our news & event emails, and most importantly in person with all of your locally elected officials and by attending Commission Meetings.
Sincerely,
DAN
Daniel L. Bell

The Districts of Taylor Mill
|
The Holland Rosen Restaurant Group's new Taylor Mill Headquarters and Retail Facility, located in the Districts of Taylor Mill, will be known as Trifecta - as it combines Greater Cincinnati's Three Iconic Tastes (Graeter's, Skyline, and LaRosa's) all under one roof. Owners Gary Holland and Ron Rosen indicated recently that they are hoping to open the new 6,000 sf LaRosa's and new 3,500 sf Skyline Chili in November 2014. Graeter's Bakery and Ice Cream Shop will be 2,100 sf and expected to open within the same time frame.
Individuals interested in employment opportunities with either LaRosa's or Skyline Chili should contact the existing Taylor Mill Skyline Chili, currently located in the Shoppes of Taylor Mill, for an employment application and more information about their hiring process.

The construction of Pride Parkway is progressing and we have been told that we can expect to have at least one of the bridges completed and available for vehicle passage by the end of December 2014. Opening up the bridge will allow traffic to flow along Pride Parkway instead of various sections of Old Taylor Mill. We also believe it will make travel safer and eliminate some traffic congestion. We continue to share your concerns in regards to the lack of a traffic control device at the intersection of Wayman Branch and Pride Parkway. As you may be aware, we have requested that the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet install a traffic signal at this intersection and have discussed this issue with both appointed and elected state representatives. Staff at KYTC are gathering the necessary traffic counts and data to submit to Frankfort for review and approval. Unfortunately, the signal must be approved at the State Level as control and maintenance of KY 16/Pride Parkway is limited to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. As more information becomes available we will share it with you.
