The City of Taylor Mill, in conjunction with Cintas Corporation, is hosting a Community Shred Event on Saturday, April 26th, 2014 between the hours of 9:00 am and 12:00 pm.  This FREE event will be conducted behind the City Building located at 5225 Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, KY 41015 and will provide community members with a safe and secure resource to shred their confidential personal documents.

Identity theft is a growing threat for individuals and businesses across the nation.  This event allows you the opportunity to properly recycle in honor of Earth Day and supports awareness of proper document management all while providing you with peace of mind that sensitive information will not end up in the wrong hands.

During this event anyone can bring their documents in and have them shredded by an on-site certified Cintas employee.  From drop off to destruction - all documents will be constantly monitored and protected.

For more information about this free event please contact our offices at 859.581.3234.  Thank you!

Greetings!

The last couple of warm days has been a much needed prelude to Spring for those of us in the City of Taylor Mill.  We are anxious to leave all this snow and colder weather behind us and concentrate on all the great things warmer weather is sure to bring in 2014.

I'd like to take a moment and thank all of the citizens who have attended our City Commission meetings over the past few months and to those who couldn't attend but provided us your feedback.  The communication and citizen input has been invaluable in assisting us in making decisions that best represent the future of our great City.

I would encourage you to tell all of your family, friends, and neighbors to sign up for the "From the Mayor's Desk" Newsletter by visiting our website at www.tayormillky.gov and selecting the Sign up for News and Event Information icon on the home page.  It's a great way, in addition to watching and attending City Commission Meetings, to stay informed about what is happening in our community.

On a personal note, I'm looking forward to the start of baseball season and all the hoopla that comes with Opening Day for the Cincinnati Reds in the Tristate.  Let's Play Ball!

  Taylor Mill Fire/EMS Department

For every minute someone goes without CPR their chances of survival decrease by 10%, so we count on educated bystanders to provide some easy life saving measures until the ambulance arrives.

CPR of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is an emergency procedure
for manually preserving brain function until further measures to restore spontaneous blood circulation and breathing in a person who is in cardiac arrest.  It is indicated in those who are unresponsive with no breathing or abnormal breathing.

As a long standing practice CPR classes have been given by the Taylor Mill Fire/EMS Department FREE of charge.  These trainings will occur on March 22, 2014; April 26, 2014; and May 24, 2014.  Classes will be held at the Taylor Mill Fire/EMS Department, located at 5225 Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, KY and start at 9:30 am.  For anyone wishing to participate please contact us at 859.581.6565 to register.

Taylor Mill Maintenance Department

The Taylor Mill Maintenance Department is continuing to work on patching potholes that developed over the winter season in responce to our harsh winter weather.  Residents are encouraged to report potholes to us by emailing [email protected] or by contacting the Maintenance Department directly at 859.581.3234.

In other news the Department is gearing up for necessary street sign replacements, park maintenance, right of way maintenance, street maintenance, and general other seasonal issues and responsibilities.

We would like to take a moment and commend each member of our department and several of those from the Fire/EMS Department who worked many days and evenings to treat the roadways for safe passage during this winter season.  We have utilized 1000 + tons of salt this past year in comparison to 400 ton utilized in past years on the record breaking 46" of snow our region received.   Unfortunately, that is also a budget breaker for us, but necessary in order to adequately serve our citizenship.  A special thank you to everyone for their hard work and dedication to the City of Taylor Mill!

Taylor Mill Police Department

Congratulations to Officer Mike Lyon who was the recipient of the Governor's Award for Outstanding Achievement at our February 2014 City Commission Meeting.  Officer Lyon lead the Police Department in the apprehension of impaired drivers for the year 2013.  We commend him for his outstanding efforts.

A special welcome to Police Recruit Danny Potts.  Recruit Potts graduated from the Commonwealth of Kentucky's Police Basic Training Academy on February 21, 2014.  He has since been deployed in the field and is working and patrolling the streets of Taylor Mill under the guidance of his field training officers.  Welcome to our Team!

Officer James Mills and School Resource Officer Heather Mitchell recently chaperoned our Taylor Mill Police Explorers at the Annual Winter Fest Games, held in Gatlinburg, TN where the group successfully competed in a variety of law enforcement related activities along with other similar groups from across the Country.  We are proud to announce that our group of young explorers achieved 4th Place in the Category of Drug Identification.  Congratulations to all of our participants!
