THANK YOU!
A special thank you to everyone who donated towards our Annual Canned Food Drive and our Holiday Adopt A Family Project.

We were once again able to provide Christmas to a family in need via the Salvation Army and were also  able to provide non-perishable holiday meal bags to almost 60 families who are in need this holiday season.

Thank you so much for your generosity!

Greetings!

On behalf of the Taylor Mill City Commission and Staff, I would like to take this opportunity to wish every Taylor Mill resident a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

This diverse time of year can be filled with many joys for some and very challenging and difficult times for others.  I'd like to take the time to acknowledge the daily struggles that many individuals and families may be facing.  Please take a moment to make a difference in the lives of those around you whenever possible and to reflect upon the blessings we have while spending time with family and friends.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the Administration, Fire, Maintenance, and Police Departments for the outstanding service provided to our citizens during the 2013 calendar year and our recent severe weather incidents.  The City of Taylor Mill has a solid reputation in the region mainly due to the level of service that they provide to our citizens.  A special thank you to each of you for a job well done!

Again, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours.  May 2014 bring you happiness, good health, and hope and peace to us all.

                         Taylor Mill Fire Department

The Taylor Mill Fire Department is pleased to announce the receipt of a grant from FM Global in the amount of $2,416.00.  This grant will be utilized to purchase touch pads and software to aid in the Fire Inspection Process.  Congratulations to Chief Dennis Halpin and all the staff that worked on this endeavor.

Additionally, the Taylor Mill Fire/EMS Department is concerned about the safety and welfare of you, your family, and your friends.  With the winter months upon us here are a few tips to keep everyone, including your home, safe:

*Never run a gas or propane heater in your home unless it meets the safety requirements identified by the manufacture.  Inappropriate use of these devices are a leading cause of death across the country.

*When using candles make sure you use a solid base and keep flammable products away from them.  Never leave candles unattended or lit when you are not at home or asleep.

*If you have and use a fireplace get an annual chimney inspection by a licensed sweep company.

*Generators are extremely helpful when your power fails, but remember to run generators outside with the proper extension cords.  Never tie one into your fuse box with a power cord unless you have the proper switching device and the work is performed by a licensed electrician.

*Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors are the most important items to have in your home please make sure to test them regularly and replace the batteries at least twice a year.  In the event you cannot change your batteries and need assistance contact your local firehouse at 859.581.6565.  Someone on our staff will be happy to assist you.

  Taylor Mill Maintenance Department

Well winter is almost here and snow is on the horizon!  As a result, the Taylor Mill Maintenance Department is ready to clear our roadways of snow and ice accumulation when called upon.  Currently, we have 300 tons of salt and multiple outfitted trucks on hand to assist in our response.

We would like to remind residents that in the event a snow emergency is declared on street parking in prohibited.  This is necessary to help us adequately treat the roadways.  It also helps insure the safety of your vehicle and the safety of our drivers and their equipment also.

Please remember if you are shoveling your driveway to please shovel snow to the right side of the drive so our equipment doesn't come through and unearth all your hard work.

Most importantly in heavy snow events please be patient and stay off the roadways if at all possible.  The heavier the traffic the harder it is for our crews to respond.  Unfortunately, if you are stuck in traffic during heavy snow falls, so are our crews!

For more information about inclement weather response please contact our Maintenance Department at 859.581.3359.

Taylor Mill Police Department

The Taylor Mill Police Department is seeking renewal of the Department's Accreditation via the International CALEA Organization.  CALEA exemplifies the Gold Standard in Public Safety requiring participating agencies to meet 188 National and International Law Enforcement Standards.  The City of Taylor Mill is one of the few agencies in Kentucky who has achieved this level of professionalism.  Upon completion of the review, conducted by representatives from the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the National Sheriff's Association, we were recommended for re-accreditation.

Hat's off to Chief Steve Knauf and all the Taylor Mill Police Force for making our Police Department one of the finest in the State of Kentucky.
