His spirit and profound belief in the goodness of mankind are priceless assets that attest to what is blessed about this world. The University was extremely proud to award an Honorary degree to Professor Wiesel in 1996. OLD ROMAN GATE DISCOVERED
A monumental Roman gate was discovered by the University of Haifa excavation team pictured above at Hippos, overlooking the Sea of Galilee. It may cast light on the bronze mask of Pan -- the only object of its kind found anywhere in the world -- that was discovered at the same site during last year's excavations.
