AMBITIOUS CITY - NEXT THURSDAY!
|
|
Ambition is the theme for this year's gathering of local young professionals, entrepreneurs and leaders scheduled for Saturday October 18 from 8 am to 5 pm at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Hamilton. The HIVEX 2014 conference - hosted by Hamilton HIVE and supported by the broader community - will focus on a range of contemporary themes from leadership and innovation to governance and business. The day will include a keynote address by André Marin, Ombudsman for Ontario, a set of interactive workshops and a mayoral debate on the issues most relevant to the key 18-34 age demographic essential to Hamilton's future prosperity. The conference will also include two fun add-ons: a special Ray Charles tribute concert featuring the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra and a Motown after party with DJ Andy Inglis.
The Hamilton Chamber - a founding partner of Hamilton HIVE - congratulates this organization for its outstanding work in developing our city's next generation of business and civic leaders. Ambition lives!

Jason Thorne Brings Fresh Approach to
City-Building
Hamilton's recently-hired head of planning and economic development laid out his philosophies and priorities during a debut community talk last week at the Scottish Rite. He emphasized the value of our city's heritage buildings and cultural landscapes as drivers of growth. The overarching theme was the need for progressive "city-building" that celebrates Hamilton's rich diversity and capacity for "citizen-led planning." Our thanks to the Chamber's Renew Hamilton Project for providing this audio recording.
