HES 2014 Sound Bite
Next in our series of short audio recordings from the Chamber's 2014 Hamilton Economic Summit is Dr. Hubert R. Krygsman speaking on the role of Redeemer University College in advancing a holistic vision of hope and shared prosperity across our community. Dr. Krygsman is Redeemer's president and a keen supporter of community engagement, particularly through service learning, volunteerism and civic leadership. He underscores the importance of developing young people who will help shape Hamilton's economic future by "practicing renewal in the public square for the common good." Our thanks to the Chamber's Renew Hamilton project for providing this recording. Photo by Reg Beaudry.

Barton-Tiffany Study Adopted by Council
An ambitious and comprehensive planning document that will define the future of the historic Barton-Tiffany neighbourhood in lower city Hamilton has been adopted by municipal council. This plan establishes urban design guidelines and expectations needed to attract private sector investment and kick start quality renewal. The Barton-Tiffany area is particularly important given its proximity to the West Harbour, GO Transit hub and downtown - three pieces of a puzzle that is coming together to transform Hamilton. Congratulations to City councillors and staff (including Julia van der Laan de Vries, pictured) for working effectively with all stakeholders to deliver a bold framework for change that has been widely endorsed across multiple sectors. Our thanks to the Chamber's Renew Hamilton Project for documenting and promoting this important initiative.
