Remembering Bill Filer
We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Bill Filer, past President of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce (1992). Our condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.
"Bill Filer was a leader, and a man of enormous integrity, class, wisdom and decency.
He served the Chamber of Commerce at a time when interest rates were high, and confidence in the economy was low.
Very few men in leadership positions can be effective and also be liked and respected. Bill Filer was able to make tough calls, difficult decisions while maintaining respect from all the Chamber members.
He was a visionary, and thought strategically. He was a mentor to many chamber members, and was available to provide wisdom and guidance .
While Bill maintained a heavy workload in his business, spent hours of dedicated time on community endeavours, all while maintaining a steadfast loyalty to family and close friends.
Bill knew when to listen, when to speak, and when to guide.
He will be sorely missed."
